Fighting anyone for more then one minute and then ending up dead because they earned the kill. Can't tell you how often it has happened, but anytime a kill comes from a fight, not a HO/pick/vulch, is my favorite death.

Some come to mind, the first time I thought I had Grizz, K4 on K4, think, oh yeah, next scissor he is mind. Pull vertical, look out the top of the canopy thinking his airplane would be parallel to mine. All I see is K4 nose.... tower.

One of my early FSO's escorting, I got a kill or two but was pilot wounded on egress from the target.  Babied the plane home, various miscellaneous plane bits shot off.  Blacking out more and more frequently, I landed harder than I wanted to, broke the landing gear and wound up skidding down the runway shedding parts as I went.  Slid to a stop upside down, the only part of the plane still attached the engine and cockpit.  Laughing like a hyena as I took a moment to go 'whew', reached forward to type .ef as I was blacking out, the screen went red and I was in tower, having died from my pilot wound with my hands about an inch from the keyboard.

Since then, I'm typing .ef as the plane gets to about 25mph braking or skidding on its belly.

Not really a death since I survived but I did lose 2 planes. I upped a set of B29s to go death star mode on all the planes upping from the nearby cv. Shortly after takeoff I realized there was far too many green planes around and I was never going to get to fight any of them bad guys. I did however see a set of high B24s going to bomb our base, so I climbed and chased after them. I ended up shooting them all down but at the lose of 2 B29's. Listening to my squaddie crack up over vox over me chasing bombers down in my B29s was well worth it though.  :D  :lol

I don't particularly enjoy dying while in the MA.  But if I must, I prefer it's either the result of a decent fight or to accomplish some squad goal like capturing a base or taking out a CV group.

Other than that I can't think of any specific death I'd call out more than any other.

A few years ago I was flying a goon on an NOE mission with a bunch of Jugs.  We were following the gently rolling terrain when one of the hills got a little too big for my thrust/weight ratio.  I hit WEP and kept pulling the nose up just enough to try to get over the hill.  I have a film of it somewhere but I went up half the hill with the nose pointed skyward dragging the tail wheel with puffs of dust coming out from under it until the hill finally won.

I didn't actually die.  It ended as a ditch.

back in aw I was a really good gunner.  my squad always wanted me to gun when on a bomber.  once I was a gunner on an a26, it was gonna be a 15 minute flight time at least, so I decided to look at the map, i was scanning to see where all the action was.  next thing I know we are back in the tower.  I question the pilot what happened. he was like dude, I told you 3 times we had a spit behind us why didnt you fire? I was embarrassed when i told him I was busy looking at the map to see where the action was.

Don't remember if I died on that pass or not, but one that made me laugh pretty hard I was on autoclimb contemplating my navel for five or ten minutes.  Something about the bardar/map on the clipboard made me start wondering where the bandit in my sector was, as I figured I should be headed right for him.  I pushed over to level flight just as the distance indicator on a set of B17s that had been hiding behind the engine cowling switched from 1.2k to 1k dead in front of me.  Much panicked break turn/stick stirring ensued.

The angle was about right I likely would have collided with him if I hadn't moved the stick.
