While I liked the film I don't feel it accurately represents the current Aces High meta.

1:There wasn't nearly enough negative G stick stirring

2:That P-51 would never have been under 25k unless he was circling his own ack.

3:There wasn't a twenty minute long GV segment showing fifty people camping a spawn to repeatedly kill one Panzer.

4:The ad should highlight some of the bomber action in game. Perhaps a montage of B-24/Lancaster formations bailing?

5:A short clip of fifty people chasing a single P40 would help highlight the teamwork that is required for success in the virtual skies.

:rofl and sadly ... +1

And who are these people?, must not be anyone on these boards that bombs and bails, spawn, camps, and ack runs. Everyone here is desperately out looking for the fight apparently :headscratch:

Nice start.  Not a fan of how the text blacks out the visuals.  It interrupts the flow too much.  If you're going to use text it's gotta be done really slick.  Plain white font on black background just looks unpolished.

I think you need to focus the camera action so it looks more engaging.  Maybe setup something more typical, like a yellow nosed 109 vs a Spit, or 190s attacking bomber formations, or zekes vs f6fs.  Rising Suns vs Blue Cats always looks good.

Look at WOP commercial: http://youtu.be/iGgP9tI1c7g

The text is integrated into the commercial, and the voiceover really gets your attention.

Yup.

The kill at the end is too fast for noobs who won't recognize what just happened. To them it will be a confusing blip at the end.

The opening shots a little too far away. Wide view is nice but, not too much of it because the thing fans want to see most is too small.

A little light on action even for a short. But if the intention is to make lots of this type of ad, it's not too bad.
Fear? You bet your life...but that all leaves you as you reach combat. Then there's a sense of great excitement, a thrill you can't duplicate anywhere...it's actually fun. Yes, I think it is the most exciting fun in the world. — Lt. Col. Robert B. "Westy" Westbrook, USAAF 6/<--lol@mod

What about a quiet little farm, nothing happening, then empty shell cases tinkling onto concrete, cut to dogfight thousands of feet above, bullet holes appearing on wing fabric, unwinding altimeter, spinning artificial horizon.

Then a rolling scissors between two well recognised aircraft, say Pony D and 190, flaps being selected, burst of fire, blood on canopy followed by guy in his chute and crippled plane crashing into trees, victory roll from winner over airfield, home for tea and medals?

Genuinely wasn't, though i have seen a bit of that ad so maybe some of it was subliminally there.

Irrespective, watching that just, is a damn good advert and we need something like that :old:

Needs to be more action in the scenes, like a nice furball.  It looks like two guys turning circles over some crappy looking water.

This isn't an insult to your film making, just the content contained in that particular video.  I find myself in a lot of low fights on the deck fighting off sometimes 4-8 guys until i eventually die, i make poor choices on purpose.  ;)  After that fight is over though, I always think, "Man that would make a great commercial."

I see a good commercial consisting of 6-8 planes mixing it up in a real close furball, mixing it up with no extending, and everyone within 1k of eachother, pulling for angles.  Explosions, wings flying off, and maybe some fire.

Thoughts?

The shots were kinda meh... But the right idea...

Gotta remember, a lot of people are attracted to the "BIG NAME" models like the P-51, P-47, 190's, 109's, and of course iconic bombers like the B-17 and B-29...

If you feature the iconic planes based upon what little common knowledge people have, you can reel them in...

Then maybe at the end, feature the 262 to really knock them dead as if they're the "SECRET SUPA MAGICAL" ride...

Think of how the viewer that knows nothing about the game views the advertisement...

1) Ok... WWII planes... And Air Combat

2) OK... Bombers are kewl... Group cooperative....

3) WUT TANKS?

4) WHAT WAS THAT JET THINGIE???? I MUST KNOW MOAR!!
