200 oh the 200... really!!
« on: April 10, 2014, 01:46:59 PM »
How about an experiment. Lets have Hi-Tech disable the all chat (200) feature in the game for a month. Do we really need to speak to the "enemy" other than a .s
Lets see what goes away... Taunting, name calling, complaining, cheating accusations, and probably a few others. What do we lose... the very few compliments that are handed out, that could be pm'd or with a simple .s

This was inspired by Fork's comment and to be honest most, of what i see on 200 is pointless and before you all jump me, yes I do use it as well, mostly because it is available and I am human.

Its not a bad idea.  I think the name calling and crap would continue, but to a lesser degree and more person to person but it would still be there.

yes it would be private, and having to tune a guy into your chat box takes more effort..

When I get time to read it, I find 200 to be quite entertaining actually.  I would miss it if it wasn't there..  :D
I think just squelching the people you find too annoying would be more effective.

I fail to see that connection. Not once has some text on Channel 200 affected the way I fly.  :headscratch:

Don't tune to channel 200 or filter it out in the chat tabs if you don't want to see what's being said on that channel.  It's not like you're forced to tune to it, that's why HiTech disabled the "All" channel in the LWMA and gave people the option to tune, if they want to, to Channel 200.

All true, but I think the OP was saying to do this as an experiment to see if it helps with the community culture i.e. take the voluntary out of the equation.  It would be interesting to see if it helped...but it's true some like and enjoy 200 for various reasons both good and bad....so it's probably not fair to take it away.  Might not be a wise business decision either as a small percentage of the community might leave the game in responses.

No easy answers it seems...

That's like saying you don't like a television network so you would like to have it taken off the air instead of changing the channel on your TV.

And yes without chan 200 players would start text and vox pm'ing which is even more annoying. Trust me, I was online when rauml got text muted, so he just switched to vox pm'ing drunken nerd rage instead of typing it.

Remember chan 200 is all voluntary, nobody starts out in the game with the radio tuned to chan 200 by default.

It's not going to work, people will just tune to another channel and you'll see something like channel 201 replacing channel 200.

There is an easy answer...don't tune or filter out channel 200 if you don't want to see it.

Ive been watching these PM/200/hate threads the last week or so and I don't get it.

Turn 200 off yourselves if you don't like it  These threads are becoming ridiculous honestly.  Fix this, fix that, disable this, disable that, perk this, perk that when virtually every single item is correctable by the player and perking or unperking is uneffective motivation in any situation of plane choice.

Just fly people.  You control you...

200 is optional .... yes it can get stupid sometimes but generally it is a great way to shoot the breeze.... you don't go to the pub and sit in a booth by yourself now do you

Why the hell would you request HiTech make a change to the game that you can do all by your damned self?  Seriously, have you no bloody self control and you need "the man" to hold your hand and make your decisions for you?  Man the hell up, learn to wipe your own arse and block the channel if you want to imagine life without it.  Don't imply that removing it from everyone would make anything better without removing it from your own personal use first.  D.A!
