+1  not that I mind the people that don't play anymore...but they don't play the game anymore...so they don't really know what is going on in the game as of today or yesterday or for some in a couple of years

Exactly..  We already have private squad forums.  Is it really necessary to have a forum just for members with current subscriptions?  Seems to me like this would be an exclusionary tactic in a situation (The Game needing more players) where we need more INCLUSION.

Gonna say -1 to this.  If you wanna discuss AH stuff with current players only, take it to squad forums.  Invite more people to your squad forum.

Make it like most MMO games, anyone can read the forums but to post you need to be an active subscriber.

Exclusion from what could be vital information is not the way to go.  Many folks use the forums as a way to stay in touch with developments and sometimes personal and technical contact.  I don't believe that your intent is to block such access, but many of us would not pay much attention to whether or not we were posting in a member only BBS or General Forums BBS.  Many times answers to questions asked in one forum can be found in another.  Blocking access in this way would only diminish the search capabilities, and possibly add to redundant posts.  Basically, you already have online chat privileges that non members do not have access to (not the same, but pretty awesome system in my opinion).

In addition, some non members are dedicated Aces High enthusiasts with a variety of circumstances that lead to their unsubscription.  I know from personal knowledge that HiTech (who are in the business of subscriptions) value the continued interest in their product.

Squadrons and Special Events Forums should be the only "blocked" access.  Those areas provide information about strategic plans that could ruin events if supplied to the opposing force.

but you can't enter if you are not in that squad.   This would be one room for all paying members only, All other rooms remain the same.  Not taking anything away from anyone.

No one was being excluded from the form  just from the members only room.  They can post and tell us what's wrong with AH in all the other rooms.  This would just be a perk for the members paying the bills.

I still don't see how having a forum section for paying members only would be considered a perk or how it would be beneficial.  It would contain the same type threads that are already seen in every section on this board.

to stop guys who haven't played in a couple of years but know exactly what is "wrong with the game "

What about those that maintain their account, but rarely ever fly?  Do the players that fly an hour a month have much more to say than those that haven't played the game in a while?

There really wouldn't be any benefit.

Exclusion from any forum is exclusion.  You don't see how now but if implemented, you would see posts in that very forum about members passing on, vital update information, current changes, etc.  I guarantee it.  This is where your intentions to exclude a minority of folks that maybe you wouldn't agree with or you think are misinformed, has closed the door on the majority of unsubscribed community members who do nothing more than keep in touch with friends and developments.

I have been a player from the year 2000 or even earlier  :old: So, you are saying that when my ISP was bought out (in rural area) and no other suitable internet connection for game play was available, I should have paid full subscription amount just to have full access to BBS.

You can see if I take this a little bit personally, but not knowing how long you have been a "paying" customer, I might also think it would be a good idea for a veteran (no newb) section  ;)

Actually, I think that we all get along quite well as it is and if not Skuzzy has the terminator skills of a Wolverine.  No one really wants him on their case.  Although I don't agree with your method of blocking forum discussion, I understand your want to filter posts.  Maybe what you really want is an ignore list (squelch button) <<<< This I whole heartedly agree with.  It removes frequent "offenders" (those that you personally feel aren't contributing to the conversation).
