Traveler can always ask for a private forum and then add any active subscriber to his little private forum and he'll have his "Members Only" forum.

ack-ack

Exactly.

Another wish granted.  :D

this members only room would hurt the game in the long run---people who are thinking about joining this game aka the 2 weekers--come to this forum for information--just because they don't post here doesen't mean they are not reading it......so no,we don't need a private bbs room...you are over ruled by your fellow players.

the two weekers would be allowed since they're on their two week trial.

Bad idea because it would increase the work load of htc, someone would have to keep track of who has a current subscription and who doesn't. Also, a lot of the people we come here to laugh at probably aren't paid subscribers.

They have to do that now, right?  They know who has a subscription and who doesn't right now.

Yeah, what exactly would be gained by this? Besides the general concept of a "forum only for subscribers", what EXACTLY would that do for us? How EXACTLY would that benefit the community?

The initial premise that non-subscribers' opinions are somehow less valid than a subscriber's is simply untrue. I see no need for this.

They have to do that now, right?  They who has a subscription and who doesn't right now.

But its not tied to the BBS, you dunce.

couldn't be done, HTC does not release information as to who is a paying member or not.   Also, there is no relationship between player names used in the game and names used in the forum.  So your suggestion would not work.

Neither would yours then.

Sure it would, because HTC knows who the subscribers are, that's the difference, and for entry into the private room in the forum you would have to provide that name.

HTC has a record of active accounts. They don't keep track of which BBS members have an active account.

To do what you are asking, they would have to look at the IP addresses (and you can work around that as well) for both the game and the BBS, and sift through all of them, and match them up. All just so you can exclude some people you (incorrectly) feel are less entitled to give input.

No not at all, they someone on the BBS has a BBS ID and if they wish to enter the private room , they are challenged for their subscriber ID.  HTC knows the valid Subscriber ID's.

It would work and it does.  Since you would be the one that would grant access, you can make the requirement that those that want to join your private forum have to provide their in game name.  You can then check the stats to see if they've been playing recently.

Fair enough. Though you still have yet to say how this will help the community.

Define community, are you talking about the community of paying customers or are you talking about the BBS community?   They are two different sets of people.  The benefit to the paying community is that they receive a perk, they can post in the members only forum room where the none paying community can't.  The non-paying community can continue the use all the other forum rooms as they currently do, unchanged.  The benefit, all the posts in the members only room come from paying members, those players with a vested interested in seeing AH be as successful as possible.  The wines, grips, and suggestions in the members only forum room would be coming from the people that are paying the bills at AH and are the only reason that all the other forum rooms on the AH BBS and the game exists.

AS it has been stated before. If this was to happen you would effectively isolate a fair portion of the BBS. Their opinions do matter, because they can give unique insight as to why they left or things that may/should change. Informing other players and HTC alike.  Why wouldn't HTC want their opinions? When if they regard them, they could get some subscribers back, and potentially earn new subscribers. While I understand your frustrations of people who 'don't pay, so they shouldn't have an opinion', that really isn't a fair shake to them either.

If it really bothers you, just add them to your BBS ignore list .   :salute
