Yes, but the Dr I is, for some reason, the domaint plane. The D7 in particular is just not a viable choice if you want to be competitive.

And Jager being competitive is only putting in more deaths than the other guy, when I started in the F1 camel the DR1 was over modelled, I kept at it kept dying and learnt, in the end there were maybe only 1 or 2 the best DR1 guys who could beat me. You can do this in any plane so long as you don't mind dying a lot to learn the plane.

There was close to 30 in there last night, I was just curious as to whether or not anyone else would like to set up a ww1 fight one night a week similar to how they do tank wars

If you look, I'm not doing too badly in the WWI arena, flying exclusively the DVII. Is it harder? Yes its harder, I actually have to do something other than turn circles. But I also see that the performance and structural tolerance differences are small enough that E-fighting is only marginally effective unless done PERFECTLY.

REALLY need to get the SPAD XIII in there, that could make a big difference.

I held off two Dr1 in the D7 by doing the vertical up and down while they did circles. I remember before if I tried that in a D7, the wings ripped off. Something has changed. You can barrel roll the D7 now along with cutting across the Dr1's turn using the vertical with out breaking off parts of the plane. I stayed alive last night using the vertical like you do in the MA with 109, and I didn't hand kills away because the kite couldn't handle the maneuvering.

Something has changed since last year.

The parametres are different in WW1 think inches instead of feet, think thrust instead of zooming, the hardest plane in WW1 to fight and fly in is the F1 Camel I would rate it the hardest in the whole game.

If you need to go vert and stay out of guns use a climbing spiral to the right against gyro planes. Another thing against the gyro planes DR1 and F1 if you have to flat turn, turn to the left, a lot of the better DR1 sticks still turn poorly to the left as they fail to keep the gyro effect in check.

Something has changed since last year.

The only FM they changed since the arena started was that of the DR1 your probably just getting better  :D

From the beginning I said that arena was a mistake. I knew you were never going to get these guys out of their 190s and 51s, Las, Spiteens...ect into WW1 planes. That said every time I went into WW1 I had fun. I think its a nice setup but never had a chance against  the "other" WW1 game no matter what happened.

I'll say this I bet most players would become much better in LWA if they spent time in WW1 as well as DA. WW1 is pure flight skill and positional flying. Get a little crowd in there and you can have a lot of fun.

The main problem with WWI is the small plane set and limited play options.

Add the SPAD XIII, a Nieuport (Nieuport 28 would best fit the current environment), and one of the Albatros line. Maybe the SE5a, as well. Add bombers and ground targets to attack. And Zeppelins. Maybe even observation balloons that need popping.

There's a lot that more that could be done for the WWI arena.

I did not know they fixed the Dr1  :rock ...  :rock

Shooting blimps would not be much fun.  Having a game people work together for a goal would make it more attractive. Although, sitting next to ww2 its hard to choose ww1.

Im still waiting for a WW1 KOTH  :pray
