On that same topic,
I was looking at isrv1 again with the prospect of using it in the AvA. I wanted to verify that the base layout would work for the AvA; it will. However, the first thing I noticed was that it uses the default Pacific ground textures. I wonder if you could change those to something more appropriate to the land types?
What do you mean? The land types are derived from the GlobCover data and represent the correct areas - this way the dessert is actually the dessert, the agricultural areas are farms and more. I had found that these textures make an excellent dessert that look very naturally.
To be honest I hope to update the terrain with the new engine released - mostly to create more accurate landscape.
The next thing I realized is that I have no idea what the write-up should look like, so I looked at your pdf file, but I could never use that without your permission. So would you want me to use it to create a derivative wirte-up or would you prefer to submit a write-up specifically for the AvA? We like bases at the front lines to be within 12 miles or less apart. I see several instances where that works on your terrain so I am hoping the front line runs between those bases.
Actually I was thinking about it. These days detch01 (asw) the SEC CM should submit it to the CM Terrain team for approval and uploading for the SEC event (hopefully it would be published officially soon)
All the bases at the
map represent historical places and put at the coordinates.
The major battle area is NW of 10,9 and SW of 13,14 along the shore - it is quite dense - sometimes less than 12 miles sometimes more. So it looks like it more than suits the AvA.
The setup I was thinking about is:
Egypt (REAF and EEF) + RAF green colors on the map above.- Fighters: Spit VIII, C205
- Bombers: Lancaster
- Transport: C47
- GVs: M4A73, M8, M3, M16 & Jeep
Additionally a Tempest at single Royal Air Force base A56 Fayid (sector 6,7) - the distance would make it limited. (there were some clashes between RAF operating from Egypt and IAF involving RAF Tempests)
Israel (IAF & IDF)blue colors on the map above.- Fighters: Spit XVI, 109G6 (avia)
- Bombers & attackers: B-17 & Mosquito VI
- Transport: C47
- GVs: M4A73, M8, M3, M16 & Jeep
Additionally a P-51D at single base at A10 Ramat David (13,14) to prevent outbalancing the plane set.
I'll gladly prepare a writeup - BTW there is soon the Israeli Independence Day (May 6 at 2014)... so it would be appropriate setup
