Skin not showing
« on: May 24, 2014, 05:31:33 PM »
I'm working on a special skin right now and when I try to view it in the film viewer to check my work the folder is named correctly but when I select it the skin shows only the default skin. It doesn't even show up in game. Does anyone have an idea of what's causing this?

Have you created the name text file for the skin? i.e for a P-47M you would have p47m.txt with some descriptive text in it like "56th FG skin" which would show up offline in the hangar drop down list of skins. That is the most common mistake that would let a skin show up in the viewer but not the game.

I didn't, but it's not showing up in the viewer or the game.

Edit: It would help if I actually named the skins their proper name instead of adding extra characters to them...  :bhead

This was the hardest thing for me to figure out because I kept messing the format of the txt file.  Make sure you name it properly.

I started out calling mine in the p51.txt file (or whatever) CAF/CAF by Vraciu to get it to work.  Then I modified it to say what it was supposed to once I saw it worked.   You will have to edit it outside the p51d_1 folder and then copy/paste the .txt file into the folder.  (At least I did. AH write protects all the files in there so I can't edit and save in the folder.)
