Much of the empty seats are because MLB plays 162 games per regular season.  81 home games means you don't have to go to every game.  Seat prices have gone up a little but you can still watch a great baseball game from good seats for the price of a movie, chili dogs not included.

How many MLS games are there per season?  How many league games are there in England per season?

Don't hesitate to call on me when you need baseball economics or statistics explained to you.  I'm always willing to help! Lol

Edit:  Manchester United played 5 games in April, lol.  Your stadiums HAVE to be full to make it work.  The Texas Rangers played 6 games last week with an average crowd of 41,000 (35,000 on the season so far).

Please explain it to this former Detroit Tigers Season Ticket holder (03-11).   Your "average crowd" is comprised of fuzzy numbers.    Meaning, "tickets sold" are counted, not necessarily those in attendance.   I have been to games where half of Comerica Park was empty, because the bandwagon's fell off and they claim 35,000 in attendance (even in 2013 while in first place).   When in fact actual attendance was closer to 20,000-25,000, but that is how MLB is run.

As for Manchester United playing five games in April.  I can assure you that since Old Trafford seats around 75,000 IIRC, that there were close to 60k in attendance.  I follow Arsenal and they are practically selling out Emirates these days to the tune of almost 60,000 a game during Premier If you even think for one second that the Texas Rangers are even close to them in Net Worth, Marketing, Sales, etc please pass the bong to someone else.   I am not even a Man. U supporter (poor xbrit :bolt:) and cannot allow the silliness to go unnoticed.

Texas Rangers net worth - $825 Million  (Forbes 2014)
Manchester United net worth - #2.8 Billion  (Forbes 2014)

Come on man.   I attended the Russia vs. Sweden game at the Pontiac Silverdome for the 1994 World Cup.   There were about 72,000 fans in attendance, including some nice trim to mingle with.   The World Cup is on a completely superior level and untouchable by American Sports, sorry.

GO USA and it sucks that England was knocked out.   Even though most of experts had them eliminated, I was hoping they could play spoiler and advance.

Changeup you knew what this thread was about and so joined in the thread so that you could just try putting down a sport enjoyed by many here. ok you like baseball, go start a baseball thread, being a football supporter I will not go read it but then again I won't post in it trying to make it look bad. Basically speaking, if your not interested in the subject matter why get involved?

Back on subject, I enjoy most MLS games no special team just like watching any of the games. I think the World Cup will go with history, every time they are staged in South America on of those teams wins the competition.

Changeup, X is correct and even you know this.   But I have to say, thanks for taking Princess from the Tigers.  :rofl

Perdweeb, excellent post!    :salute

Mmmm, Nice trim... THe only reason I picked England was that my daughter is a big Liverpool fan and , of course, there are 5 of "them" on the team (only Sturridge produced a goal against the Eye-ties, though) and because all the "good teams" were already picked. Meaning: yes, they were underdogs to begin. And, yes, there is bigger money is soccer.

Stunning final goal by Uruguay. England controlled the stats http://www.espnfc.com/gamecast/statistics/id/383282/statistics.html but lost the match. It was the very first soccer game I watched from end to end and it was a good one. Uruguay has a fine goalie and a good defensive game. England got a lot of shots on goal but not many quality shots on goal.

I'm still a bit miffed about it, we were robbed,  the second goal was a freak accident in Suarez being 5 yards offside and it rarely comes off a defensive players head like that meaning he is onside because it wasn't passed to him by his teammate.   If Gerrard left it one of the 2 defenders behind him could have dealt with it, if everyone leaves it Suarez is flagged offside no problemo.

Dolby is right about Godin he should have been sent off 1st half, clearly a 2nd yellow card, had sturridge stayed down and rolled around crying like muller did for germany.  Ref gave alot to Uruguay must have been a fan, two penalty shouts for shoulder charges in the box right when we were going to shoot not given with no attempt to play the ball.   :bhead  Brazil got one for falling over!

Rooney nearly had a hat trick if it was his day, just unlucky he couldn't be a foot length more accurate.

A draw would have been a fairer result and would have given us a chance to qualify but we are toast come again in 4 years  :D

I note that FIFA's kind of saying that the playful chanting we've seen around players like Bolatelli won't be tolerated.

While I don't endorse that kind of thing, much less do it myself, it seems a bit out of place for FIFA to come down all heavy now. Granted, you can kick people out of the stadiium but its a little inconsisent, given how long most of this stuff has been occurring.

Meanwhile, if I were going to taunt Bolatelli, I think it would be for the fact that he looks like a Slestack from the film, "Land of the Lost". Nice hair, bud.

A.  Attendance vs tickets sold are virtually unimportant because of revenue.  Ask Skuzzy not to count subs payed each month by people who do not play.  You made my point for me in the attendance differences.

B.  Attendance was taken from the ManU and Rangers web sites

C.  Learn net worth and what it consists of which is more than half merchandise sales.  Do you think there are more ManU fans world wide or Texas Rangers fans?

D.  Ticket prices are double plus the exchange-rate difference.

Nice try old friend but your post is more about you being a fan of soccer and not too much on the reality of the marketing and financial differences.

PS - princess was never that good.  John Davis is an idiot but the Tigers record ain't too different from the Rangers right now and the Rangers have the league-leading number of players on the DL.  We'll see how far you get with Kinsler in the post-season.  I heard he got picked off on his way to Detroit.

It seemed like Uruguay got a lot of the calls and the refs should have seen thru some of the acting done by the Uruguay players.

Its also was obvious, even to someone who doesnt know squat about the game, that Uruguay played better as a team even if they had less talent and far less time with the ball. England did not play a good midfield game, to often their best players were to far downfield wanting to score.

The Texas Rangers are nothing even close to the cash cow of the Top 7 or 8 Soccer teams.   Yes, Man U sells more of their jerseys than the Rangers, sells more merchandise, tickets, you name it.  Not to mention higher attendance numbers.   It isn't even open for debate.

Incorrect.   I am a fan of both sports.   My figures are backed by Forbes and MLB.
