http://zenoswarbirdvideos.com/MATINEE.html* 354th Fighter Group P-51 Mustang Pioneers in Color. New edition with sound effects & new material! This is an updated revision of a documentary I created 6 years ago with added sound effects plus exclusive new footage of Lt. B W Carr climbing out of the captured German FW 190 fighter that he stole after being shot down & flew back to his own airfield! Rare color film of the legendary 354 Fighter Group in action, with over 700 Kills, the highest scoring American unit in Europe. Nice scenes with the group's well known P-51Ds too, including "Margie Maru" and "Angel's Playmate." This was the first group to fly P-51Bs in the ETO. Amazing color gun camera film!
* P-47 Thunderbolt Aerobatics & High Altitude Flight NEW! See the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt Rock & Roll! Loops, rolls, dives, the big "Jug" can do it all. Contains a thorough explanation of high altitude P-47 turbo-supercharger theory & operation too!
* More World War 2 German Newsreels. NEW! Highlights include: JU-87 Stukas attack Warsaw, 3rd Panzer Army's Winter defense of Vitebsk, King Tiger II Tanks, FW 190 dive bombers operate on the Eastern Front, Marder one man torpedo craft, 15th Panzer Grenadier (including Mark V Panther tanks) counter attacks the Americans at Luneville, Panzerkamphwagen VI and much more.
* Wings Up! USAF World War 2 Officer Candidate School. NEW! Narrated by Academy Award Winner Capt Clark Gable. This film was developed by the Army Air Corps to show men what to expect when they entered Officer's Candidate School in Miami Florida. There was a lot more to becoming an officer than learning how to fly.
* Bird Dog FAC for F-100s Supports US Army in Vietnam. (Color) This short film real gem! You'll see an Air Force Forward Air Controller (FAC) assigned to the 1st Division, flying a tiny Cessna O-1E Bird Dog spotting for three F-100 fighter bombers out of Phan Rang and local Army Artillery. Their mission is in support 3rd Brigade operations against VC bases near Lai Khe, 50 miles from Saigon.
* US Navy Aircraft Aerial Torpedo Attack - High Speed High Altitude. Originally developed to educate pilots about new torpedoes that could be dropped from higher (and therefore less vulnerable) altitudes and speeds, the film also gives a through grounding in torpedo attacks in general. You'll learn about depth setting, range estimation, target angles, leading the target, the effect of crosswinds, working with fighters and dive bombers during an attack, using radar, countering evasive ship maneuvers and much more.
* Operating Light & Medium Tanks in World War 2. Not only does this film cover the basics of operating World War 2 era American tanks, it offers a rare look at two seldom seen early examples, the M-3 Medium "Lee," (British "Grant") and the M-3 Light "Stuart." A Lee was featured in the 1943 Hollywood classic motion picture "Sahara," starring Humphrey Bogart. The Stuart appeared in many episodes of DC Comic's "Jeb Stuart and the Haunted Tank," often in the unlikely role of taking on German Tigers,
The Fighting Lady. (Color) A new color corrected color print from the National Archives really brings this film to life! "The Fighting Lady" follows the fictional career of an Essex Class aircraft carrier from the Marcus Islands campaign, through Tinian, Truk, the "Mariana's Turkey Shoot" and much more. But don't let the term "fictionalized" miss lead you. All of the footage shown in this fascinating composite documentary is real -- shot by combat cameramen on board ship and in the air, showing actual Navy and Marine pilots and crewmen up close and personal. ("The Fighting Lady was actually the nickname given to the Yorktowns, CV-5 & CV-10.)
We also show 1940-45 vintage WWII Army & Navy training films and pilot's manuals on how to fly the F4U, F6F, P-38, P-39, P-40, P-47, P-51, P-61, TBF/TBM, AT-6/SNJ, B-17, B-24, B-25, A-20, A-26, B-26, B-29, and Stearman N2S. Alert! - don't miss the F-86, B-47 & B-58!
