Nice to have some pandapee cups in the background to wash it down with.

My mom lives just outside of Shanghai...  Some of the pics she's sent me of the "food" there are fairly disturbing.   :uhoh

The saying goes that the 'Chinese will eat anything with 4 legs, except the table'.  I could get behind that philosophy.  If it tastes good and isn't toxic/poisonous, why not.

However, every single person I know who has been to China always comes back saying the food is disgusting there, not because the ingredients are exotic, but because they are low quality, not fresh, or otherwise distasteful.  It's like a fat camp for some of my business traveler friends who've gone there for a month or two.  They come home 10-15lbs lighter.

A coworker of mine went on a business trip to China.  Coming back, he didn't feel well, and he got a lot more ill after a few days and went to the doctor for treatment of food poisoning.  I asked him where he ate before his trip back and he told me that he ate meatballs at a Chinese 7-11.  I was amazed and asked him if he was suicidal.

there's a restaurant in santa monica called typhoon.  I had ants, scorpions and thai beetles.  the ants and beetles were really good.  the scorpions tasted like paper, but the shrimp bread they were on was tasty.

had rattle snake and rabbit sausage at another place.  wild boar hamburgers are pretty good, love them at fudruckers.  years ago I had some chicken feet marinated in some kind of bbq sauce at a Chinese restaurant, they were awesome.

I am not really a fan of buffalo or gators, I think they're overrated.  still thinking of making a trip next year to the south for the armadillo.  that and some good southern food.  I miss that.

Me too, it's the eating of things with more than, or less than 4 legs that is wack.
