The best F4U pilot I have flown against was Virus but then again I haven't fought very many hog pilots that just made me want to quit.
The flaps in F4U's are insane

edit : AKDogg and I fought F4U v Ki84. It was a really fun fight and had my adrenaline pumping. I didn't know who it was after the merge because you don't typically get a cold guns merge in the MA, I knew at that moment I was getting a good fight.  It lasted a few minutes before I got him but he is a really good F4U pilot. He likes the -1 a little much. TC is also a good F4U pilot, only fought him once and of course I lost but it was really fun. I was in a K4 I think he was in a CHog, always been scared to fight CHogs because one gun solution and you might as well say you're done and that is just what happened. I was reversing and that little snapshot he had tore me to shreds. Glzzsqd is starting to become a decent F4U stick, he has a lot to learn but in good time he will get there.

BigR and TJ are about the only 2 respectable sticks left who fly the 51 on that level.

well I'll be damned! What's going on old friend?
A wee little old timers thread lurkage - those tend to catch my eye still and it's hard not to have fond memories of popping silly roped fighters in our mossies! Good to see lots of familiar faces still around - hope things are well with you batty!

Yeah man, I'm getting my skydive licence in 15 days (it's all I'm going to talk about for the next 15 days), things are going fairly well. Very good to see you about, life treating you good?

I've been consistently saying as well since the word got out that the new version was getting closer that a lot of old school guys would come out of the woodwork.  Many have started sniffing around the forum again, and made more than a few comments about coming back to check out what the new version will bring.  I'm hoping that these players as well as some new blood that can easily be outright stolen from the "competition", I use that word loosely, over at WT, that there is real hope to get things back to where they were numbers wise a few years back when the arenas were actually split over large numbers (and other reasons I suppose as well).

A lot of the complaints, legitimate and otherwise, will become less important, their effects not as encroaching on the "fun" factor when there is tons of targets and fights all over the place due to 5 and 600 player nights.  This is what I most look forward to, having consistent large numbers and many good fights, missions, whatever floats your boat, to pick from the instant you enter the arena.  All the new terrain/graphics/and the like will actually be a welcome secondary bonus for me.

Let's hope the alpha testing goes well, and that open beta will be upon us prior to the xmas holidays this year, it'd be a great present for everyone, and give us something to do other than the yearly watching of "Jaws" and "Star Wars" during the xmas break.

TC! Thank you for inviting me in the DA the other day. Same to RTR1, I needed some good hold brainless dogfighting. Only you two provided it, others kept on showing at 20K and runing to their ack ..  in the dam DA! :headscratch:

That's awesome - well except for the part of jumping out of the perfectly good airplane. I'm not sure what that's all about. Are you planning on getting shot down a lot in the real world and need the practice? But either way I'm sure it'll be a rush!

I've been busy this summer with work but managed to get my SCCA competition license with an open wheel racing school and I'll probably be doing at least a couple races next year once I can get my racing budget in order.
