Like I said - .  I never said he was "just" a trick shooter.   I worked with Ernest Langdon when I worked with SigArms, and I felt that he was one of the best all round shooters I'd ever worked with, been trained by, or just seen shoot.  His record stands for itself as well - Distinguished Masters in the International Defensive Pistol Association with 10 National Championship Shooting titles and 2 World Speed Shooting titles as well as a Grand Master Class rating from the United States Practical Shooting Association.  Before he did all that he ran the USMC Sniper and high altitude shooting schools.  He's also a brilliant instructor.  Well, when I heard somebody ask him once after he just won a major event by a large margin who the best shooter in the world was, he instantly answered Jerry Mick.

That's the kind of shooter Jerry is, where guys who are in the top .0001 percent of the shooting world pretty much all agree that he's without peer.  Consider his age as well, and how well he can still throw down, it's absolutely incredible how fast his reactions are still.  To me that's where he really stands apart, is that he just seems to be getting faster as he's getting older, not slower.

He's very passionate about every single aspect about shooting, his youtube channel is excellent as well, he gives very measured and balanced reviews on products as well as techniques, and is just an all round positive guy.

Hope you don't think my post was aimed at you.  It wasn't. If anyone knows who these guys are (given your background) it's you.

He might be using self loaded rounds with a lighter load to reduce recoil. It wasn't mentioned anywhere if he was using a standard factory round.

Sure he did.  Standard ball ammo supplied by Barrett.
If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.

Watch again, he states what ammo he's using in all of his videos.  Besides shooting light loads works with a bolt action .50 bmg.  Not so much with a semi-auto, cycling problem and all that.

To your point the action and muzzle brake on that rifle does help reduce a lot of recoil.  But Jerry's the best I've ever seen at recoil management, check out these vids for further refernece.

MBailey - no, no worries, I just thought maybe I wasn't specific enough, that's the only reason I stated it again.

The last few posters make a good point as well, the great thing about Jerry's videos is that he goes into great detail, yet also explains thing well enough that a person that is new or not even into shooting will grasp what is going on.  He always gives those he donate either ammo or products to him a very grateful thank you, as well as a pretty good description of what said ammo/product does.  Just an all round good guy, who would be a good front man for any product IMO, be it a car, plane, whatever - it just so happened he chose shooting.

Again, it still amazes me at his age how fast he is, I often make comments watching shooting competitors who when they run or move seem to be just kinda tip toeing/half a##ing it, and those who put their nose down and accelerate to full throttle, even though they may have a weapon in hand.  A sense of "urgency" in movement if you will.  Jerry is still one of those who digs in with his feet and sprays dirt behind him when he moves.  His reaction times and hand/finger speed - heh, not much needs to be said on that account.
