I hate it.  Gives me vertigo or something--like looking through wavy lenses or a fishbowl even--because the head movement isn't in line with the screen's.  Barely move and it will turn all the way.   If you tone down the movement to more closely match then you have to contort to look behind you.    I am in the minority here, but I cannot stand it.   Yet when you see videos of people who use it I see the advantages and sure am jealous of their ability to adapt to it.

I am told I have to force myself to use it for thirty days and I will never go back.    Just can't get myself to that point...

I only recently started using TrackIR after getting one to use in Elite: Dangerous, and I love it!

I couldnt imagine flying without one.

Its even better when used for infantry or vehicles in games that have those. The trick is getting past the first weeks getting used to it and trying to find the right profile. But once you get used to it it becomes the smartest $$ you ever spent on gaming.

One neat thing about trackir is that once you're accustomed to it, you're not "using it" anymore, you're just not conscious of it, it's almost like a thought-controlled view system.

The trackir profile editor is invaluable, without it I probably would have given up on trackir. It was giving me a lot of grief until I found a thread on this forum about optimizing your AH profile. If you're having problems with trackir in AH I encourage you to check out Fugitive and Wiley's stuff and learn your way around the profile editor program.

I couldn't get the hang of shooting properly with having to sit up to look over the nose.   

I'm not sure if you're talking about having to sit up to look through the gun sight or sit up to look over the gunsight. You can pause track ir, and move your view up and f10 save it and the view will stay like that after you unpause track ir. If you're having to sit up to look through the gun sight then I think you need to widen your deadbands.

No!    No need to jump ship, just get it when it's released.

From my squad's experience, it takes up to a month to relearn to fly with TrackIR instead of using hat/keys.
Some never get adjusted and some feel motion-sickness using it.

The key is to get a working good profile from someone in the community.
You might have to modify to your preference, of example I got one from a squaddie, I disabled yaw movements, and tweaked movement and sensitiveness and made in generally higher dead-band.

I use to wear bifocals. I now wear progressive lens. Neither lens of the bifocals was right for the distance my screen is at so the progressive lens helps.

Now progressive lenses have different focuses depending on where you look through the lens. It doesn't effect me any that I can tell. The trick here with trackir is you may only move your head 10 degrees and so your eyes move very little but your view on the screen will be the view of your wing tip.....90 degrees.
