The achievement system already tracks streaks.

The arguement that this wish would encourage diversity is flawed in my opinion. It does the exact opposite. Plus, having that attached to a players icon would have unintended consiquences for the people who enjoy this style of fighting by painting a big bullseye on their back. Other players would want the chest thumping rights to be the guy who ended that players run.

There's a simple question to ask yourself while playing. "If everyone did this, would the game be any fun?" If the answer is "no" you shouldn't live by whatever it is you're doing.

In the case of recognizing and encouraging kill streaks, a larger population of players than we already have would be encouraged to pick and run in an effort to preserve their score. This is not good for the game as a whole. Try to imagine an arena where all the players are afraid of combat and chose not to engage in it unless they are guaranteed a win. I have a pilots license. I don't come to AH for the scenery.

Many a player thoroughly enjoys flying bombers mostly or even all the time. If everyone did this, of course the game would quickly become shallow and boring, even for the bomber guys without having anyone to attack them. Does that mean nobody should fly bombers anymore? ;)

A lot of different play styles & goals can mix up for a good gameplay which would never work if literally everyone did one of them them all the time.

Now this is a fantastic idea. Can we have little fake paper medals in the post too?

We don't require any further incentives for people to play in a timid fashion to preserve stars next to their names. I give this a huge and grotesquely hairy -1

on the contrary it already happens everyday.  An idea that might help some people focus on aerial combat rather than throwing their cartoon plane into bases or each other or the next capture.

Sporting rocks or killing someone with them was very satisfying and increased determination.  IMO.

Icons and achievements can be turned on or off same could be done for this.  Of course there are loads of other things that I'd rather see first.

Hmmm...I was more inclined to agree with some of the posts stating otherwise but I can see your point.  Maybe it would work...

Agreed. Which, in my opnoin, is why we don't need to incentivize a certain style that lends itself to exactly that end.

If that was truly the case, then why do bombers fly so damn high they might as well be flying offline? There are very few individuals that are willing to climb that high to intercept, or worse yet wait around for the bomber that might pass by (and hoping he doesn't simply bail out outside of range).

-1 on any Icon change that shows a kill streak or player ID.

+1 to a message shown when you lose the killstreak but with one caveat.  The minimum killstreak message shown is 50.

No, seriously.

What means "so damn high" in this context?

Most bombers in this game do things I'd call tactical work (attack on bases) and generally come in at an altitude up to 15k. (Many prever to stay below the first wind layer starting at 14k) Which in my book is not that dam high at all, and ensures that you are quite probably being attacked by fighters. Some do fly higher, though, but generally at or around 20k only.

25k+ Raiders are quite rare in all forms of base centered combat, they are only prevalent in long distance strat runs.

When I go buff hunting at peak hours near very large battles (which tend to increase the combat altitudes), 20k is more than enough to be higher than like 9 out of 10 bombers that come along. In most cases, much higher.

For the record, the average bomber sortie duration for bombers is less than 20 minutes... you don't get very high in that time. And only about one in three bombers gets home to land his mission.

I think current kill streak could quite easily be displayed in the player score report via roster.

Re attaboy's for kill streaks upon landing.... Would we not end up with the buffer full of them? ( given they were carried over every successful landing)

Totally agin recognition of enemy pilots or competency via icon. Part of ACM/SA is determining the skill of your opponent/s. Leave that sort of thing in the DA.

I think the problem is we will have way too many messages announcing kill streaks, since every sorty you land with even a single kill will be announced.

two victories is the minimum for the system to display a "landed kills" message

Then set it to 50 minimum for the kill streak message.  Think you would see a lot then?  So many it would be annoying?

I thought about this.  There really is no harm in a kill streak message. None.  There is also no absolute that people will or will not change their flying habits if this message or even one showing the status of the 11 year sunspot cycle (or anything in between) is displayed.

I say enable a message to be displayed for kill streaks and for the peeps that cant handle it give them an option to disable it.  They can already choose to not tune on to 200.
