A wish for the overhaul/expansion of the ordnance system
« on: September 09, 2014, 07:35:41 PM »
Back in August of 2007, Pyro mentioned in the below post that the B-25H (and I'm sure other planes are included) has maxed out the ordnance system which is prohibiting the B-25H for getting additional ordnance options like HVAR rockets.  With the new version on the horizon, I would like to see the overhaul/expansion of the ordnance system that Pyro was talking about take place.  This would allow the B-25H to have the option to carry ordnance packages that were common in the missions flown by the B-25H.  In addition, it would also benefit planes that are in the same situation as the B-25H that have their ordnance options limited by the system being maxed out.

We can't get anymore ordnance on the H.  It's maxed out our current ordnance system.  We'll revisit it when we complete an overhaul/expansion of the ordnance system.  We plan to do at some point when we can clear some time on the schedule.

+1   Agreed.

I would also make one more addition to AKAK's post that I wish there was an arena flag that limited the same weapons and ammo to a pre-defined variable per arena setting. For example;

"Pilots, we have 8 aircraft but only enough bombs for half of them. Half of us fly with bombs and the other half are clean this flight."

Right now in a scenario environment the CMs have to visually confirm the loadout and I'd like it if they could make it an arena flag instead. It might be nice for user made arenas as they can expand the scope.

Definitely +1 here.

By the way, in the convergence settings for the B-25H I can't find the cannon's convergence. Is it bolted at a fixed angle?

It's fixed.  You cannot adjust it.  I wish I could tell you the range, but it would only apply to it's historic gunsite, and if I could ever remember.  But this has made me curious.  Was the 75mm adjustable to a slight degree, or solid fixed?  Judging by the gun, I would harbor a guess that it was solid fixed. :headscratch:

75MM was fixed to 1000yds with the B25-H leveled. Three degrees of azimuth was possible. I believe -1\+2. So effectively locked to the level flight line. The gunsight had a manual tilting head which effectively moved the reticle center point up or down on the reflector plate. The dial had 14 major increments with minor divisions indicated between. The copilot read off from a data sheet while the pilot adjusted the dial ahead of time in hopes he could estimate range at speed.

Eventually this was replaced with radar ranging that had a max range of 6000yds. In response to the radar a gear changed the angle of the reflector plate moving the reticle for range.

Ah.  Knowing it's locked range will help me in the future.  Thank you. :aok

I can't remember when it happened, but the ordnance system was expanded since that post and this part of your wish was granted when they added the ability to disable weapons in the arena settings.

Ack-Ack is not wishing for the ability to disable weapons in the arena settings.
