No, it's relativity. Otherwise you could time travel just by taking a nap in a hibernation chamber.

I'm with you on this even though, technically, you are travelling through time in such a chamber just like I'm travelling through time sitting on my rump thumb typing on my 'smart' phone into this forum.

I find time travels frequently when you promise the wife to do something and then you realize its already time to go to bed.

You can travel forward in time if you go close to light speed and take a nap in a hibernation chamber while doing it. Doesn't matter if relativity causes it. Time for you slows down and keeps on moving for the rest of the universe. If that's not time travel then nothing is.

No, you are a time-rider is all. Time travel as a term indicates that you leave the time continuum at one point and return at another. Your biology does not allow you to do that. You are trapped in time always riding the short duration of human life. You might appear to extend that time by travelling at near light speed, but it is not time travel.

You really are wasting your life arguing.

So are you, especially when you're usually wrong.

Time travel to the future in physics
Twin paradox diagram
There are various ways in which a person could "travel into the future" in a limited sense: the person could set things up so that in a small amount of his own subjective time, a large amount of subjective time has passed for other people on Earth. For example, an observer might take a trip away from the Earth and back at relativistic velocities, with the trip only lasting a few years according to the observer's own clocks, and return to find that thousands of years had passed on Earth. It should be noted, though, that according to relativity there is no objective answer to the question of how much time "really" passed during the trip; it would be equally valid to say that the trip had lasted only a few years or that the trip had lasted thousands of years, depending on the choice of reference frame.

This form of "travel into the future" is theoretically allowed (and has been demonstrated at very small time scales) using the following methods:[30]

Using velocity-based time dilation under the theory of special relativity, for instance:
Traveling at almost the speed of light to a distant star, then slowing down, turning around, and traveling at almost the speed of light back to Earth[59] (see the Twin paradox)

Wiki?

That's time dilation Ripley, as described by the special theory of relativity. As I already stated, time travel requires leaving the time continuum at spacetime A and reentering the time continuum at spacetime B. Both examples you have given are time dilations. So, what's wrong is your understanding of the scenario. Even wiki indicates that there is little support for it in any factual sense as derived from theoretical physics. You might try philosophy next, as I understand that's where time travel has it's strongest support (mental exercise is required).

I love watching people try to make sense of something that does not exist.
