It's two sequels nobody was asking for to two franchises that have been run into the ground. I'm not excited for either of them.
That may be true for Jurassic Park, but for Star Wars, the fans have been begging for a QUALITY sequel. It looks like we might finally get it. If the "Rebels" cartoon is any indication, then "The Force Awakens" will be fantastic. There seems to be a clear desire by the Disney/Lucasfilm team to match the tone and style of the Original Trilogy. If the new film delivers on that promise, it will dominate the box office just the same as "A New Hope" did in '77 - both because of the nostalgia as well as on its own merits. I personally can't wait to see the new film.
As far as the JP sequel is concerned, they lost me with the fictional "genetically modified" T-raptor-cuttlefish hackjob they invented for this film. The story needs to be at least as good as the original if they hope to make money. This fake dinosaur has upset a lot of fans, because it kills the whole feel that made the original so iconic. This is not a dinosaur movie anymore, but a generic monster flick. It's the wonder of seeing "living" dinosaurs that captured the imagination of the Original's audience, not the horror movie plotline. It seems like the new film forgot what made Jurassic Park so special. (Just like George Lucas did when he made the prequel trilogy.)
