You didn't quote me, but in any event I wouldn't have taken offense.
I was looking for a compromise only.
Free 2 Play as a model that uses micropayments is a lie really. It's been debated to death elsewhere on these boards.
Do you really believe that there is no substantive difference between something like War Thunder and Aces High? Or Candy Crush, Angry Birds, or Clash of Clans? Most of the 'protectionism' you've seen here is about protecting the quality of the game. The continued success of a
franchise like Aces High is built on a quality product, not gimmicks. Elsewhere I've read that Call of Duty is a franchise because it exploits technology, has a compelling story line, is technically challenging and is packaged with high quality. COD is dutifully maintaining the standards it set for itself over 10 years ago.
That is what you are reading from the Aces High subscribers who have posted here who also believe that the team at HTC has the same goals for quality and a realistic flight model (for a combat game) and that they have already built a franchise on.
I still like my suggestion, because I believe that once people see the quality they
could be getting, they would give up the notion that a dollar will buy them an 'edge' and become subscribers.
I don't know how it will play out. I'm an older fellow. I can remember my own father's reaction to my American Flag T-shirt. I thought it was patriotic in a funky kind of way. He saw it as a desecration of the flag.
F2P is like self-gratification in my view. It's a poor substitute for the real thing.
