Police Murdered in NY.

Disgusting and cowardly. Is this going to result in widespread rioting as citizens demonstrate their distaste at this abhorrent act of violence.? I doubt it

Personally I think threads that are obvious political stirpot cesspools should get their OP banned for 3-5 days from the boards, 2nd strike = 2 weeks. Gets old seeing stuff like this and people walking into it so casually. (Probably happens because no punishment).

Human life is precious.  We should never have to worry about being harmed due to color.  That includes the color blue.  I am sure that the media will build a story to sell, and try as I might to have faith that most folks have common sense and would never pointlessly take another human life, I will be reminded on every channel of the abhorrent few who would.  But even without hearing a word about this tragedy, I would not be surprised at all to find that this officer was a man who fostered good will towards all, regardless of race, ethnicity or station in life.

Even worse, this only adds to the presumption that lethal force is justified "anytime" someone feels in danger for their own life.  Above all, I want our public law enforcers to be safe in performing their difficult duties.

A very in depth look into adding safety measures both for the officers and those they come in contact with, should come from those law enforcement agencies that know in greater detail what those duties are, and should be given every ounce of support from government and the public to do so, unless these agencies are either incapable or unwilling to do so, at which time heavy insurance premiums should be levied on them if they do not seek competent external resources and show immediate compliance to rules and practices that have been proven to address community concerns and safer public interactions.

Well if your gonna riot you kinda need to have a cultural bond with the person your gonna riot for..so are there going to be widespread riots of police officers? I don't think that's likely. That being said

I don't think think this will escalate much because the perpetrator is dead. Has he survived and no charges were filed you would have seen protests.

No because he is moron.

In a world where thugs are heros and the police are villians. We have failed. How many athletes are we going to see with #PoliceLivesMatter? Probably none.

Such a sad story, even worse is holiday season.

My hope is that folks may come closer together in support of these family members who so wrongly have been victimized.

Also, this is such a volatile and emotional issue, that is fresh in the minds of many that I believe the sarcasm that I perceived in the previous post, "did he deserve it?" has most likely been misunderstood and the real point lost, but truly captured by the sentiment that all life is precious.  Maybe we should all take a pass on making judgements while the fever is still high.   :pray

Have you lost your mind? "Pass on making judgements"? Some gangster lunatic tries whacking his girlfriend, then decides he's going to kill two POs because other POs , from two other jurisdictions, were forced to use force in order to 1, avoid being killed by a 6'4" 300 lb felon who had just robbed a store and tried disarming and killing the PO ; As well as some other lifelong felon with over 30 adult arrests who fought the police while being arrested AGAIN! And the fat SOB later died of a heart attack after forcing numerous POs to assist in cuffing him.

Then the whack job cop killer blows his own head off....And you dont think we should be making judgements?

The streets of much of America, probably all the big cities, are ran by generational gangsterism and drug money. I started telling people that years ago, maybe now they will start believing me. This entire drama has been fueled by the usual culprits and the honest working people, being scared and intimidated like rabbits, are to afraid to even say it.

Rich,

Exactly what I meant.  You are a prime example of passing judgement on my post.  Your assumption was totally off base and clueless to what I was appealing to in my post, "making heat of the moment judgement about one another."  Totally forgiven by the way.  :salute

Maybe read again, and you will see that I was defending a sarcastic, comment made that was also taken the wrong way.  Two wrongs never make a right, so let us start it here, by at least attempting to understand that there is no "us" against "them," it is only "us".   Some of "us" are severely emotionally disturbed, some of "us" are quick to draw on presumptions, some of "us" just don't exist peacefully with the rest of "us".

The above will never change, but we can change the way we try to understand and deal with the problems that some of "us" create for the rest of "us".  Something positive can and must come from these commentaries on our social struggles as a nation that prides itself on individual's rights.

Lastly, no one in this community is any more deeply saddened by such violent and criminal actions than I.
