Nice day at the range exercising our 2nd amendment rights with a new shooter(youngest son's friend) with modern and historic rifles and pistols spanning 137 years. 1883, 1916, 1919, 1959, 1978, 1984 and 2014 in various calibers (.45-70, .45 ACP, .25 ACP, 7.62x39, .357 mag and .223)
I gave my usual history speech I typically give with new shooters...explaining the use of each weapon in regards to safety, history, etc. and my 2nd amendment speech as usual. ("Don't let any politician take these rights your forefathers fought for away from you!" ) I hope it sinks in. The new student shooter was NAILING it with the AR15 at 50 yards.

The 2nd Trapdoor was an off-duty RSO's rifle, he was shooting black powder reloads and really impressing the kids with the "Black Powder Plume"

His rifle (bottom) is an 1878-dated with 1879 improvements (Unprofessionally refinished stock with no cartouche, but hey, it shoots!) Top pic is my 1883 dated- completely stock except some unprofessionally re-blued barrel back in the 50's before I owned it.
