Surprisingly day three I'm not feeling the need.

I am having breathing problems today.

Don't know if that's normal.

Coughing is starting to happen, I know that's normal

I quit smoking cold turkey Jan 1.

Looking for others that quit cold Turkey that wants to share tips and trucks with me.

I am not taking anything no chantex no patches no nicorett gum no nothing.

It's only been two days and I really want to hurt people lol

Just quit Copenhagen after 35 years on Jan 1.  I just chew some gum and yell at anyone who talks to me.  Pretty simple really...

I quit after 12 years of smoking back in 2003. I find I can have 1-3 cigarettes a year during special or holiday functions, but I would not recommend this to most people.

I quit cold turkey in 2003 but chewed Nicorette gum for about a year afterwards. I found the gum was more addicting than cigarettes due to the fact it was acceptable in every location at the time.

Curious why you are not trying chantex ? It worked very well for me.

I went cold turkey, and the best advice that I have is to use that pissed off feeling to stay determined not to throw those hard fought days away.  Keep piling on those days, until they turn to weeks, then months, then years......  but only concentrate on that day at hand (each day being a step towards feeling better).

Be careful of those triggers that you used to fire up thoughtless number of times:  after drink, after coffee, after meal, after waking up, etc.  Stay determined and pissed off .... including how much they cost and also how much they stink.  I can't say that I used any substitute like carrot sticks or mints (but I would suggest to have some on hand).

Another thing that pissed me off about smoking was how out of shape I had become......  loading my truck became a chore, followed by violent coughing and gasping for air.

12 years Jan 1. I have sucked nicotine lozenges most days since then. They're more addictive than cigarettes ever were. We (Aust.) had a supply problem so I ordered 12 boxes from Walmart and stalked the DHL depot at the airport after following the path of the package on line.

I checked and the long term effects of nicotine replacements are nil. I think the only way I can quit is to start smoking again. All good though, but little kids think you're a grumpy old man for not sharing your sweets.

I just wanted to quit.
The more you think about it, the more you "try", the more you are reminded of it and tempted.  Try this, walk up to a door, then start smacking your head into it.  Now, "try" to quit :)

that's my experience.. just gotta make the decision. i had finally had enough.. sick of waking up reaming brown crap out of my nose, hacking up garbage out of my lungs every morning at 36 yrs old. said to myself, lets just stop this, it's stupid and a waste of money and i'm getting nothing out of it.

i'll just add: sure it's a drug.. but nicotine withdrawal is not dangerous and cigarette smoking is a learned behaviour.  you can unlearn it.

I don't care what anyone says, the e-cig is the greatest invention ever. I quit cigarettes because I was in the hospital without nicotine for several days. I stayed quit because of zero nicotine e-cigs.

Even still I get cravings and puff an e-cig every now and then. Not sure I wouldn't light up if I didn't have that option. I know several people that quit the smokes with e-cigs and I bet they are glad they didn't listen to the macho "just quit cold turkey" nay sayers.

Do whatever works for you.

true! smoking actual burning tobacco is the real health/quality of life problem.

but if you want to quit nicotine, at some point you have to quit nicotine.

I think the addiction plus the habit combines to make it so difficult. With the E-cig you can control the nicotine level and drop it to zero while still satisfying the craving somewhat. That has worked for several people I know.

This is my second time I went to the e-cig . I went two year's with them the first time . I could smell and taste again for the first time in 40 year's but slipped up and smoked a cigar and started smoking cigar's . Now I am back to the e-cig again two months now and just now starting to get my smell and taste back again .

Congrats on quitting!  Do not stop!  Keep hydrated and exercise.  This flushes the system.  I quit two years ago with E-Cig.  Went from pack and half of Marlboro lights a day and have stepped all the way down to occasional puffing on an e-cig with a 0% nicotine level.  Good luck Sir!
