Shine some light on the subject?

I was thinking how great it would be to do a night mission bombing raid.  However, darkness makes this hard.  I think that eac field should have lights.  That would make the game more realistic and make it easier for bombers to see.  But the icon factor would have to be changed, turn off enemy icons at night, or make them to close range.  I think this would be a good thing to act upon, what is everyone else's thoughts?

They were called "blackout conditions".  I'd venture to say that on any given night in WWII you would be hard pressed to find a light on in either London or Berlin.  ...especially at the military targets.  Turning lights on is not realistic.

The main point of night raids was more for the purpose of civilian strife.  The horror caused by sitting in a dark room and praying that the plane flying over drops a bomb on somebody you don't care about rather than you, your friends or family is unthinkable to me.  Now, if we could just get HTC to incorperate the general population of the towns into the strat... you'd have a winner.

Thanks for the reply AKDejaVu.  I wasn't too sure, so I thank you for giving me the facts.  I like your idea a lot too!

Don't forget about target markers.  Mosquitos and such that would fly extremely low, find the military target and drop incendiaries to guide the night bombers to target.  These would be some cool missions... we need a longer night- oh yea, and the Mosquito, and incendiaries.

so then what would happen to the acks at night?

Would they be less accurate?
Would they be active at all?
If we can't see them (unless marked by a flair or incin.) then how can they see us?
Were they operated via radar some how? (just asking becuase i've never known this.) I've seen movies that have shown spot lights frantically searching the sky for incoming bombers, and random acks exploding all over in order to blanket an area of the sky.

Anyone have any knowledge of real world AAA at night ??
