The F6F-3 has different canopy glass in front and back, as well as not having rocket rails.  Also didn't have WEP, IIRC.  Akin to the P-38G vs P-38J.

In AH, the 1A and 1D performance is very close. 

No reason not to have the F6F-3, considering it served in numbers and so many other planes in game with multiple variants.  If not, at least give us the option for the rear windows, like the B-25C glass choices.

I wouldn't mind the F6F-3(Coral blasted light blue like the -1 corsair), mabye make the F6F-5 a late war fighter.

Most, if not all of the hellcats at the Battle of the Philippine Sea were -3 models.  From what I read, the -3 climbs better, and has a slightly better top speed than the -5.  The way I see it is they did what they did with the corsair.  They took a sports car and turned it into a really fast dump truck.
