OK, now I've got your attention......

A while ago I skinned a French AF razorback Jug for Frenchy. However it turned out to be the 33rd P-47D-11 skin submitted and so was not made available in the game. To make up for that I've used some info Frenchy supplied me to skin a couple more French Jugs. Both of these aircraft are from GCII/5, one for the D-25 shape and one for the D-40.
Aircraft 32 was an aircraft of the second squadron of the GCII/5 "La Fayette" fighter group based at Amberieu in eastern France in late 1944. In WW1 this group was the famous Lafayette Escadrille, the American volunteer unit that fought for the French using French aircraft. By 1944 however the pilots were French and the aircraft American; a mix of ex-USAAF P-47Ds. They were used mainly for ground support, as by this stage of the war there was not much Luftwaffe opposition. The stork painted on the sides the aircraft was the 2nd squadron emblem.
In February 1945 GCII/5 were ordered to change from tactical numbers to the ETO-style three letter squadron codes. The aircraft 9V-E was part of the 1st Squadron, all of which displayed the WW1 Lafayette Escadrille's Indian head logo. This aircraft had a natural metal replacement rear canopy and retro-fitted fin fillet.
