Unusual Military Transmissions....
« on: March 17, 2015, 05:06:52 PM »
Has anybody been monitoring US Air Force radio transmissions?

8992.00 LSB/USB

8890.94 LSB/USB

Recently there has been a lot of traffic on these two freq. about engagements with Russian assets in the arctic.

Some  50+ Skykings in 18 hours or something...

Apparently, according to the guys at http://www.defconwarningsystem.com/

All out war has broken in the arctic.

That's a great band to catch them especially on USB.

I used to listen to air attacks during Desert Storm I & II, the rest were other non-encoded VOICE transmissions from tankers and AVACS.

Great listening!

Not true.  Yes the russians are conducting exercise  operations and NATO is watching closely.

There are no kinetic exchanges between NATO, or US and the Russians ATM

Tune to the frequencies and listen in. Lots of frantic stuff about engagements.

Lots of skykings, to my knowledge, transmissions are still transmitting.

That receiver must be 95% deaf, I tuned 10 stations on my HF radio that are S9+20 and stronger and the online radio only heard one of them. Used shortwave stations broadcasting in AM mode and some SSB beacons.

If anyone whats to listen to HF communications, you are better off buying a GOOD shortwave radio that will tune in SSB also. Also an antenna switch with different antennas (vertical, dipole, long wire, etc) as you may hear just barely above the noise floor on one and 40 over on a different one. Make sure good coax and grounding also.

Receive only radios, you can expect to drop $300 on a multi mode

After about 6 last night I hopped in the DWS teamspeak. They said the channels had been silent since 4, but we did get a skyking x2 last night around 10.

It's apparently going on right now. 5000 NATO troops training near the Russian border. The Russians have launched their own "counter exercise". What's the worst that can happen? It's not like wars have started like this... right?

You obviously should be disqualified on providing any input here because of the bias you bring to the discussion.  Exposing your own prejudices based on information you may have been exposed to at work does not make it a "fact" that should impede those of us that have something, anything, to say.
