Favorite Tear-Shedding Song
« on: March 20, 2015, 09:33:52 PM »
Who has a song that they like to listen to that has you either shed tears or prepares you to shed a tear and where did you first find that song?

Mine is Boyce Avenue-Hear Me Now, found this during a tribute to a pro wrestler who passed away 10 years ago.

This whole video got to me about 8 years ago for Sgt. Emerson Brand.  His homecoming and a tribute to the tune of Go Rest High on That Mountain by Vince Gill.

Right now I gotta go with Nutshell by Alice in Chains, not really a shed a tear but it kinda mirrors some things I am going through right now.

Cats in the Cradle-Harry Chapin

Can't tell if someone posted it already. This flash thing is the most unpleasant new feature. I have eight auto downloads from this thread.

This one for sure.

And I hate to admit it, but my tears flow by the first chorus of "Shannon" by Henry Gross.   I'm sure people think of it as a stupid song, and I can see their point, but something in my experience or maybe I'm susceptible to certain chord progressions?  I don't know but the song wrecks me.

I can't really listen to that music anymore.  Jazz and the old standards are safe though.

For a long time, I thought Annie Lennox was the greatest singer in the world, as she was able to get all the way through this, where I never could:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgcoBKWTW14

Someone I knew had a sweet, and weary head, and all I wanted for that person was just to sleep, and see a happier dawn the next morning.

Not quite so stark a situation as lay behind the song, but it seemed to fit nonetheless.
... missions were to be met by the commitment of alerted swarms of fighters, composed of Me 109's and Fw 190's, that were strategically based to protect industrial installations. The inferior capabilities of these fighters against the Mosquitoes made this a hopeless and uneconomical effort. 1.JD KTB

This. I used to love this song. Now Its hard to listen to.

Its the realization you come to when your kid first goes away to college or moves out of the house when it seems like only a couple of weeks ago you were changing their diaper. All those things you truely intended to do before they got to this point but life got in the way for or you thought there would be enough time for.

Advise to any new parent or parent of young children. Savor every moment. Because you can be home to tuck them into bed every night. Go to every ball game they play in. Every school show. Every birthday. And when they first walk out that door. You're still gonna feel like you somehow missed it.
Death is no easy answer
For those who wish to know
Ask those who have been before you
What fate the future holds
It ain't pretty
