When "Wreked" passed away awhile back, I organized a mission in the MA where we all took up his favorite plane, the 190A8, and ran a sweep pretty much across the map.  It was a memorial fight instead of a memorial flight.  We got up and then announced on 200 where we were and what we were in and invited anyone to come up and shoot us down.  There were at least 50 planes in the A8.  As we landed our kills we dedicated them to our friend "Wreked".
Wag more, bark less.

Like Doc said thanks for the input and support. We are going to staff this a little further tonight. Cashew loved FSO so SEA would be appropriate. Just want all who knew him to be able to participate.  I have always said that the human element to this little hobby of ours is what makes it the best. :aok

The last MA memorial flight went just fine, plenty of pilots from all 3 countries letting their fellows know what was going on.

Last time we had a memorial flight was for the 49th, I believe, about 60 or so players from 3 countries were there.  no firing.

given proper announcement most guys who want to participate will be there and those who dont wont show up.

semp

It was the FBs for FBdhaus... And the masses policed themselves accordingly... People purposely flew with us not only out of respect but to escort for the few that did attempt to attack the flight... But it goes to show when all countries fly like this vox and text in each country is more than sufficent...

Plus at the end we all bailed together to give the red guys a thankyou present..
The boiling pot is put away and the crab has gone back to sea...

I truly thank all of you for your concern and input, especially thanks to you CM's for volunteering your time. However we are going to charge ahead as planned, I will post a request to "pass the word" on 200 (awesome advise), and would appreciate any help in other countries that I can get.
Thanks to you all, and once again all are welcome to fly...

 :salute
:airplane: I will honor your fallen companion, but if I might, I would suggest you pick out a island somewhere centrally located in the MA, (and I agree with Skuzzy and Snailman), have everyone flyinto that island, pay their respects and then be on their way to other activities. Not a island with a base on it, but a bare island, that way, no auto ack and if enough posting done, no shooting of parked aircraft paying their respects!
But, I am afraid there will be someone who doesn't get the "word" and a big shoot out will follow.
Blue Skies and wind at my back and wish that for all!!!

Again, the way this is done usually is a very large, mid altitude formation flying slowly in neutral territory between countries.  Not over any fields, not confined to one small area but a large mass of pilots all moving in the same direction with plenty of people on all 3 countries jumping in on ch2 every time some clueless person calls out 'mission inbound'.

A memorial flight in anything but the main arena is a pointless event.  When a funeral parade goes past people take their hats off and stand respectfully, the reason they don't have funeral parades on race tracks is there's no-one there to take their hats off and stand respectfully.

When I go, ANYONE who suggests my flight shouldn't be in the MA will get haunted.  :old:

If anyone ever actually wanted to do a 'memorial mission' for me, I would absolutely wish for it to take place in MA.
But as a combat mission - because that's what this game always was about to me. Forget that sightseeing stuff, create an epic memorial raid  :old:

Highly advise not doing the MA route. A memorial flight of 30+ goons got slaughtered by a tempest a couple years back... It ended really bad.

Wadda ya expect flying goons?

dhaus's was at 15,000ft in F4Us and it went perfectly.  Memorial flights get shot down when you don't have pilots in all 3 countries involved.  If it's organised properly and you've got enough people to get the word out in all 3 countries then it'll be fine.

Unforgiven,

I'm deeply sorry for your loss. I've fought against you and on your side in many scenarios and FSO's. I would love to participate in the memorial flight for our fallen friend, but it depends on two things: one would be how I fly with a current broken wrist and two how my frame rate handles with me going back to school on college wifi. If I can't be there I will request a squadie or few present from G3MF. :salute and Godspeed.
