Actually he would probably be invited in and treated VERY kindly if it is a Middle Eastern Mosque. Coffee and food would be a must have. I have quite a few Middle Eastern clients (Syrian, Iranian, Saudi) Muslim and Christian and their culture is all about hospitality. Something I think our western culture is severely lacking. I had one Muslim client just this year (a UN diplomat attached to the Kuwait delegation) text me on Easter Sunday and wish me a happy holiday. Personally am in awe of many aspects of their culture. They are wonderful people, and just as disgusted by the extremists as we are.

Yes I think most people will find that the religion itself plays a secondary role to the culture of the people in question when it comes to friendliness and politeness. A Middle-Eastern Muslim may be a lot more accommodating and polite than say an African Muslim or Asian. Same with people from Christian cultures (or any other religion for that matter).

Most Mosques in that region wouldnt even let a non-believer in. If your seen practicing another religion openly, or even allowing a crucifix to be shown, your taking your life in your hands. Or if your lucky will only be arrested. When I was stationed there I had a friend thrown off a 4th floor balcony by extremists just for marrying a Muslim girl. So I dont bother with the PC statements any more cause the fact is Islam is the most intolerant religion in the world and always has been since its inception.

On the other hand I believe insulting anothers religion is both ignorant and un-American. Either every word of the Constitution means something or none of them mean anything. By all means let murder the enemy but we should never lower ourselves to insulting a religion.

rich we used to hang people because they married somebody from the wrong color.  and they used our religion as a justification.  think of it based on just last weeks  news, some still hate people just because of their religious beliefs. do they kill them, well you already know that.  maybe not in the hundreds but then again in this country we havent had a war in over 150 years.  but  if it was up to some we would really have lots of deaths just because they feel they're justified.

When I refer to "the enemy" I refer to terrorists bent on attacking us. And I believe those that support them should be included and no mercy shown. But I just dont agree with publicity stunts based on insulting anothers religion. Thats almost as dumb as starting a gun fight with the citizens of Texas.

Indeed, while I respect the groups freedom to do so, one has to wonder on the motive. On the other hand the "Jesus picture in Urine" they displayed in NYC, was more outrageous and no one was attacked there.

On Religion, with all due respect, we are endowed by our creator to chose what we believe. Most do not chose wisely, some do not choose at all which is a choice in itself.

I don't always agree with everything you say, but I think you hit the nail on the head here. I'm all for freedom of speech, in any form. I believe that, like EVERY other right in the constitution belongs to every human to act on accordingly. But this was in poor taste overall. If there was something to be gained, some profound statement to be made, sure, but it looked to me like they were just trying to provoke a response. Perfectly legal? Yes. Would I defend their right to do so? Absolutely! Would I tell them they should rethink their priorities? Definitely.

I was refering to Patches comment regarding the mosque down the street from him, and what may happen if he should stop in. Not sure why you included my quote in this.
