In an interview with the German financial newspaper Handelsblatt, Airbus Chief Strategy Officer Marwan Lahoud said the incorrect installation took place during final assembly of the aircraft, which led to engine failure and the resulting crash."

The problem with many computer controlled engines is that they may be shut down by the control system when incurring damage that may not dictate that the engine is physically unable to run.

Airbus does not make the engines on their planes. Nor does Boeing, or any other aircraft manufacturer to my knowledge.

Airbus uses a control system that can not be overidden by a pilot to attempt to keep an engine running.

This means an engine that may make partial power shuts down.
