Dale, Roy, Skuzzy et al - pay heed!

Third WWII Project For Hanks, Spielberg

Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks are producing a third World War II miniseries for HBO, this one based on Donald L. Miller's Masters of the Air, which related the 1944-45 air war and bombing campaign over Germany through the eyes of the "Mighty Eighth" Air Force. Slated to air in late 2015, Masters of the Air is a companion piece to the duo's Emmy Award-winning Band of Brothers (2001) and The Pacific (2010).

Another source notes that they are spending $500 million to produce this series. If there is a single target to market AH3 this is it! Having done a ton of marketing myself (highly informed amateur) I can only imagine how expensive running ads on HBO would be while this show runs. I would suggest creating an alternate Facebook page and then using Facebook's targeting features to go after all Facebook users that "like" this HBO program. With all of the Facebook geeks already flying your virtual skies I would bet for less than $20k you could easily reach hundreds of thousands of flight cadets/noobs/targets over and over again. They are going to see the romance, drama, action of it all and AH3 is the only source on earth to make it happen.

In fact, I bet I could even get a main stream media news story for this. As this is playing on HBO with tons of free and paid media, we put together a 12-hour, Super Saturday, Battle Over Germany scenario with a few hundred sticks. I bet we could get some joint media mentions out of that.

I'm ready to sign up and help make this happen, strictly as a volunteer. Should we form an internet Gorilla Marketing brigade?

HBO has commercials now??

Not a bad line of thinking though. If you can somehow market AH in the same places the series is marketed.
Facebook & Youtube will be good places to start

Relevant question, I never watch HBO. If they do not then it makes running a parallel campaign even easier. This means HBO/Spielberg/Hanks will be advertising on alternate sources to get the word out. I bet they hit military themed outlets, which makes for easier attachment marketing.

As for YouTubes, that would likely be an awesome marketing tool. And we have enough geeks who make outstanding videos already. We run a few tight missions with set pieces to give our Geeks recent material to make their YouTubes from.

DredIock of course will be leading a Gruppe of Doras to intercept. We can squeeze Bruv119 and The Few into some PonyDs. They have no idea how to fly them but atleast they'll crash land at Biggin Hill just fine.  The camera footage will be awesome

AH uses a single source on their films, therefore this idea would not work.   I was in talks with Toad back when we got the B-25 and wanted to create a commercial with a low level raid mission and pair it with live interview audio with his father, who performed these raids.
