You're reading the words of one that has bailed to defend HQ once an attack it was discovered.
I really think it is hard to defend killing HQ during low number periods. Add on top of that the limited time many of us have to play this game, i.e. spending all our game time resupplying HQ (rather than ACM). "Thanks lets do it again tomorrow."
Yup. Even on primetime it can be bad. Last night I logged in, HQ was down. Ran a couple supply runs, it was up. Scrambled a Dora.
Managed to barely get there in time to take one of the Lancs from the first set before drop so the HQ didn't drop, but was shot down. Scrambled a 152 and headed back, the second set came NOE and I didn't quite get on them in time (killed 1 before drop, the remaining 2 about 10 seconds after)

A little over 1 hour of playtime at this point.
Ran a couple more supply runs, HQ was back up. Made a couple bombing attempts on the vbase by our HQ as there were several people trying to hopefully start pushing back. Saw scads of M3s resupplying when I blew my bomb run, ack was all over the base, realized it was going to go nowhere.
Spent the next hour and a half or so playing the 'is this bardar over the enemy base bombers trying to get back to the HQ? (the answer was no)
~3.5 hours of gameplay or so, spent maybe 20 minutes fighter vs fighter.
I realize that was my choice, but what I'm saying is, that's pretty much what it takes to defend the HQ against only a couple guys. Not very many people find that kind of gameplay fun at all, and even I don't find it fun constantly.
Correct me if I am wrong but this operational aberration is not something AH want to allow to be perpetuated and will fix when possible.
We hope. Hitech's comment about it seems to indicate they identify it as a problem, but the fix won't come until the new version.
