Next System - Tech input welcome
« on: July 28, 2015, 01:29:06 PM »
I am looking for a PCIe SATA3 SSD Adaptor card (slot mounted) that either has two additional SATA 3 ports, or that can mount 3 M.2 PCIe SSD 2280 cards to.

EDIT: got the card width wrong

Heya Chalenge,

I been researching some stuff like what you are looking for

items similar to this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00S5M36J2?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_1&smid=A1YAK8U7QV5H1E

or this:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WD5MLPM?psc=1

I just saw this thread as I was fixing to head to town
but I have several PCIe cards that have between 2 & 4 SATA III slots on the cards, that I bought back in 2011, upgrading some older SATA I & SATA II MB's

will shoot you some info when I get back from town

hope this is what type of stuff you are referring to

Yes, that's the ballpark alright. Even mSATA if there is such a thing.

EDIT: I found this one, but it's B-key and M-key. I would prefer 3 x M-key.

Heya Chalenge,

sorry, it took longer than I expected, but am back home now and had some pasta and home made muscadine wine ( kind of potent )

I have found the following that has 2 m2 ports and 2 SATA III ports

http://www.amazon.com/SEDNA-HyoperDuo-acceleration-function-included/dp/B00Y8LRJUG/ref=pd_sim_sbs_147_7?ie=UTF8&refRID=142ENVF5514NJMAS8NZB

will look tomorrow morning for something that will hold 3 M Key type cards

cheers

Alright, I'm still holding off from ordering anything until I have done more testing with the X99 system tomorrow.

I was trying to find something that would allow a multi-boot situation, but I have almost given up on that. Now I'm on the fence looking for a multi-boot, or possible a cached boot. What you posted will work, as will this:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PY1850W/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3C9E2JCXSLH3U&coliid=I1AWW6LLGTJTMP&psc=1

This one uses mSATA, which is a little more affordable but almost impossible to find anything about it in use.

Anyway, just wanting to experiment and see what I can get these things to do. It would be nice to have the OS on a card like this and use the MB SATA ports for data.
