haha well the reason im sitting here and not playing is due to lack of fights. and no HTC hasn't done squat about it for about 11 years or so or whenever the big maps were implements. However I did find pizza map enjoyable.

agreed, large maps and........... 7 (SEVEN)    days auto-reset time, on same map , not surprised people are leaving, but they don't care;  We used to have more players in each team than todays total average of 200 player every evening; if same large maps and map auto reset time are imported in AH3, refreshing few eye candies ain't going to worth nothing, same dead gaming ;

hardness and how it's tied in to the strat system.

As it is now a single set of bombers can NOE in on most maps and drop HQ all by themselves with little or no warning. HTC was "reseting" a value each morning so it would only stay down 15 minutes then reset. Even with the addition if they hurt the "city" that time can be increased. HTC hasn't been resetting that value so the time is back up to where it was.

1 player can now black out the whole countries dar, and it takes half a dozen players multiple trips to resupply it. On top of that, if it was a big raid that generated a fight I don't think it would be as much an issue, but more often than not it is some NOE hide and seek type thing with the end play being the HQ hitter doing it just to tick players off and not taking advantage of the downed dar.

Hmm.

Ty for the explanation.

Congrats guys, all those hours the Rook HQ was down today and tonight
probably caused half of 'em to log off in disgust. Hopefully, a few actually
unsubscribed from AH, to join the hundreds of others who've done so.
  Meanwhile.....chirp.......... chirp..........chirp.........

It chased me away. As much as I miss flying with the gang the thought of one A-hole flying his Lancs to an HQ, and bombing it, prevents me from re-subbing. It just blows. Logging onto a huge map and not being able to use it to find fights just blows. Most of all when your time is limited.

This was the first computer game I ever played. And the one I played most. I hope the new version takes care of the single squirrels who are looking for a nut. The big bomber runs are not the problem, I did them when with the 484'th. The single screwballs on the big maps with few on them to begin with?????

They ruin the game.

Very curious on other people's ideas for what HTC could do to generate more fun, small pockets of fights.

I actually enjoy the occasional strat defense, especially with an ME-163.  It's such a unique ride.  But two things bother me about strat raiding, specifically HQ.  First, never in the history of warfare has a set of 3 bombers completely shut down a nation's radar capability in one bomb drop.  It simply never happened.  So the typical HQ strat raid is simply a game quirk that should be corrected.  Harden HQ so it takes more ordinance out, or maybe put more of them around the country so a zone of bases will get taken out if you destroy one.  That's a little more realistic.  The second thing that is weird is the indestructible flight path along the edge of the map.  To me that's crazy.  If you fly off the map, you shouldn't be made indestructible.  You should be just as susceptible to cannon fire than you were when you were flying on the map.

I've always wondered if HTC cares more about the gameplay or about the physics engine... I suspect its the latter.

Never use to see so much whining over destroyed HQ. What changed?

Awareness. A more complete awareness of this action vs. game numbers etc.

Just speaking for myself a downed HQ doesnt dampen my enthusiasm at all for playing. I think its pretty obvious most of the time where the enemy is going to be. <S> Hetz

You know it really depends on what part of the game interest you most.  A lot of us enjoy an intense fight for a field or just a big furbal. Hq down makes it a bit harder to find.  Not impossible, just harder.

So, yes for some players HQ being down is less important than to others but most players are addicted to the action AH provides.  Break the action and you break the addiction.

+1

18 miles apart instead of 25 would make a tremendous change to the volume of fights in the area.
