Cromwell
« on: August 12, 2015, 03:40:53 PM »
The British armor is a bit lacking. Firefly is only a bit British. Here's wishing for something truly British, the Cromwell tank.

Mk IV Cromwell tank sheet

Country creator/user: Great Britain
Name: Mark IV Cromwell

Length: 6,35 m
Width: 2,91 m
Weight: 28 000 kg
Maximum speed: 52 km/h
Range: 265 km

Main gun: 75 mm (6 pounds) Mk V ROQF gun
Secondary armament: two 7,92 mm Besa machinguns

Engine: Rolls-Royce Meteor, 600 hp
Consumption: 199 L for 100 km

Crew: 5 (1 tank commander, 1 pilote, 1 co-pilote and gunner, 1 radio operator and loader)

Front shield: 76 mm
Back shield: 20 mm

And here's a great write up plus some neat profiles and 40+ minute long video on the Cromwell!

considering this is a airplane game, i suggest updating the outdated cockpit views in the older model planes.......maybe in the future add this tank, for a perk tank, but id like to see some cockpits updated first......

Cockpits are already being done. We need more armor and the Cromwell would be an excellent choice.
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

For the old AH1-era planes HTC update the whole thing inside and out, both 3D model and art, plus all the damaged bits etc. Apart from research and flight models it is as much work for them as a completely new ride. Before they got into the current graphics rework HTC were generally updating 1 or 2 AH1 rides on each new major version of the game and the TBM is due in the next version.

It hasn't been just an airplane game in years. Also tanks are less work than planes as they don't need any interior 3D work or art.

A Cromwell would be roughly equivalent to a basic Sherman; similar gun, a bit faster, a lower silhouette, but with a little less protection. So it is not a perk tank. The only all-British tank of WW2 that might deserve a perk is the Comet. This was an uprated Cromwell with a much better gun (slightly detuned 17 pdr) and more armour (around 100 mm frontal IIRC).

The Comet would be a good choice for a new tank.

I think it'd be fairly easy to add both. Give the Brits a nice boost and presence.

The crusader would make a nice addition too. Looks like there are multiple interesting         variants to it also
6 pounder anti tank
3 inch howitzer
40mm aa
2 20mm aa

Add the early panzer 4 and Panzer 3 and you have a good base for a North Africa event

OMG, a tank that can fly!
Fits perfectly in a flying game like AH.
Mosquito VI - twice the spitfire, four times the ENY.

I'm concerned that the climb rate for the Cromwell will be overmodelled as most jump tests were done without a full fuel load or ammo.
