switched IP to ATT

I was getting my IP through CricKet, but they stopped and sent me to ATT.
It is a WiFi, CricKet wasn't.
I'm not familiar with WiFi.

ATT is $15 cheaper and the ping times are more stable. Averaging 150ms, plus/minus 10ms.
Better than CricKet's ping times; which fluctuated about 100ms, plus/minus, with a median of 250ms.

Are there any pitfalls or dangers I should be aware of.
Is it true that WiFi is easy to "hijack"?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Wifi generally have higher latency (bad for gaming), more unreliable than wired.
Set the wpa2 password REALLY LONG, then it's not that bad security-wise, but worse than wired (of course)
Do not send out SSID so everyone can pick it up, and can make a try.

Creating a really hard to crack password isn't only a matter of length. Supercalifragilisticexpialido cious looks difficult but a password breaking program would find that in some dictionary in mere fractions of a second. "The_strange_word_Mary_Poppins _song" with or without quotes would be easier to type correctly but it would be much much more difficult to break. If the password length is an issue, something easy to remember like "Mutha=<3#1" should be safe enough for the length. "Mother is my first love" is a phrase very few can argue with. A dude approach might be something like "I<3(*)(*)" ... But beware: L33t1ng as in replacing certain letters with numbers in a single word isn't hard to crack any more, there's dictionaries even for that. Sentences is the way to go in hard-to-crack easy-remembering passwords.

SSID is simply
the name of your wireless network.

I have ATT, the gateway they give you has "4" RJ45 100Mb jacks in the back. Can you run a long cat5 cable to your PC? I did that to my game PC and my SONY blue ray player in the living room so my wife can watch HULU while I play AH. WiFi is a simplex connection like the old days of dial-up. You can only transmit or receive, not both at the same time. A network cable connection is duplex.
