Imperial Japanese Navy (well, at least 2 to 3 ships modeled)
« on: October 28, 2015, 02:13:50 PM »
A bit of a re-request from me.

With the advent of the new Iowa class BB, it'd be nice to have an IJN BB, CV and CA modeled (maybe a DD). I could imagine them looking like this in the new version of AH (no, I don't know what game it is or even if it is one):

For BB I nominate the obvious .... the Yamato:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yamato-class_battleship

For CV I nominate the Shokaku class (the history, if nothing else):

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sh%C5%8Dkaku-class_aircraft_carrier

For CA I nominate the Mogami class:

For DD I nominate the Fubuki class (twin mounts and long lance torps):

Each of these ships represent examples of the best the IJN had to offer (quality and/or number). I think IJN-centric players would love to use them in both scenarios and the main. i think USN-centric players (like me) would love to fight them.

Having said that .... I'm thrilled to see the Iowa class being modeled and appreciate the time and effort on that. If just one of the above could also eventually be added (CV or BB) it would be cool but if not, I'll be happy upon my return with BBs in the mix.

YUP! 40 tubes! moderate speed and i believe average armor. Would only really be able to compete with Fletcher class DDs in a cannon battle (if that). and the AA? forget about it that is the weakest point. However with its Moderate speed and armor as well as its 40 TUBES it would be a interesting boat here in aces high none the less. TBMs might actually do something. unfortunatley the plan was cancled...  :cry still the original variant would be nice to compete sorta like a heavy DD.

May i also suggest the akizuki DD, lacked tubes and though the cannons are smaller the reload rate was nothing short of insane and had great angles. Would be very effective for coastal defense and interception in aces high.

Ah yes. History is against the torp cruiser dream. But destroyers on both sides deserve torp launchers.  :D

Shimakaze-class, 47 mph and 15 tubes, slightly less armor than fabuki. Not sure how the cannons compare...

Same guns, from what I see:

Six more torp tubes. Realizing our remodeled Fletcher would only have 10.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fletcher-class_destroyer

The Fubuki with its double mounts already had the advantage.

Four ships is my current max wishlist while Dale, Waffle and Pyro are busting backside, already. I'd be thrilled with 2 IJN ships (Yamato and a CV).

Hell, I'd be trilled with just ONE IJN ship. :D  In this case, I would say a CV.  Zuikaku would be perfect, as she was the last one from the Pearl Harbor team to be sunk.  I know she was a Shokaku class, use markings and what-not that distinguished her from Shokaku if possible.  It would also mean that we would get a two for one deal on IJN CV's. :D

AH3 has the potential to compete head to head with offerings combined into one game that you have to play three other games to realize. I hope that is the direction AH3 will take while keeping to it's core MA sand box principle. Let the Staged Mission Arena, AvA and SEA have the fun of presenting the historic matchups in AH3.

The random kludge aspect of fleets or even mixed fleets from different protagonists in the AH3 MA is attractive. The idea of a fleet hunting for other fleets in the MA with an Iowa class ship is interesting. It can only get better from there to attract subscribers.

If we had axis/allied fleets implemented in MA i imagine you would have a 50/50 chance spawn when the map first loads and cycles as they are destroyed. could be like..

IJN vs USN
IJN vs IJN
USN vs USN, as it is now.

Variety and cool looking stuff seems to be what the kids like nowadays...
