A good morning to reflect on college football

I never will understand why everyone gets so shocked and amazed at the youngsters when Oklahoma gets beat every year. I've been a die hard Oklahoma fan my whole life but I can admit that they are terribly overrated every year. It has to be a money thing.

They are quit a good team usually, though.  Getting into the CFP last year was no small accomplishment.

BYW Hajo - was listening to College scoreboard on Syrius on the way to church this morning. Coach Holtz is calling for the tide and the buckeyes in the CFP.  Little early for that, but shows you where the talking heads are.  I think he just wants to see Saban lose to Meyer after that whooping Meyer took from him in the SEC championship a few years ago.

Ammo that would be a great matchup. Long way to go yet.  The season is young.  BTW Holtz is a former Ohio State coach.  Learned his trade under Woody.  He's also from Ohio.

Ohio State is the youngest team in College Football Playoff system ( I think there are 115 schools in the CFP.)  They're bound to show that once in awhile.

I don't place much credibility in what the talking heads say.  They have a Dog in the hunt usually.  It's settled on the field, not by flapping lips as the backup QB of the Sooners found out.

He came out publicly that OSUs defense is just basic, and the Oklahoma QB would light them up.  Suggestion, they should all shut their mouths and just play.

Most of the time a basic well disciplined defense with sound fundamentals will crush an offense like Oklahomas. I have no idea why all the "experts" think baker mayfield is such a great qb. Sure he's talented but he has no discipline. He makes poor decisions repeatedly as we saw Saturday. Letting Trevor knight go was one of the biggest mistakes stoops has made in a long time.

I heard something I thought I'd never hear from Paul Finebaum on ESPNs' College football Live.  "The Big Ten is the best conference in college football."  (this year)

He also said that if the youngsters on the Ohio State Team keep on improving at the rate the are, they will be scary.  As I said in previous post.  Take both statements with a grain

of salt.  We're only 3 games into the season.  Very early to be saying that.

Week four is a step in deciding who is and who's not.  Bama is clearly not going to make a mistake this week, securing the #1 spot for seven more days

Ammo did you forget about LSU losing to the big 10? they was a favorite to win it this year you cant say they dont have talent they do. Notre Dame lost to the big 10 aswell they are also a good team. and the buckeyes went into norman and knocked the sooners off with thier season on the line i dont think the big ten is a joke by a long shot. dont over look the Buckeyes just remember that 85 yard run through the heart of the south

Uhh.   No.   Sorry about these two observations.

Week 2.   31 consecutive points scored in the 2nd half.
Week 4.   35 consecutive points scored in the 2nd half.

They've been late starters this season and I recall MANY UM/ND/MSU/host of others who have had seasons like this.   Some need that "kick in the keyster" halftime speech to ignite a fire.   But I don't think it happened this week in the Peyton Manning Locker Room Complex.   Dropped passes hindered them in the 1st half.   They were finally focused when the 3rd Quarter began. 

Butch is going nowhere, much to the chagrin of "Walmart Vols "fans".   Butch has begun reaching outlying states that Fulmer was pulling from.   Which was the key to their revival, after Monte Kiffin and his long gone pal Mike Hamilton hijacked the program from Fulmer.  This after Dickey retired a year prior. 

As for Florida's D, they lost.  So I would call it a wash, as the Vols D made key stops in key moments as well.

Happened to catch the Vols/Gators game today.  HUGE comeback for the Vols.

But... Gophers 3-0.  Go Gophers! 

Vikings 2-0... Go Vikings!

Oh... and I feel sorry for you guys who only have home college teams to root for.

Jay I watched the Vols and Gators play.  The Vols impressed me Florida did not.  I heard one of the talking heads on ESPN make disparaging remarks about the Vols offensive line.  They played very well

and the Vols defense did the job.  I didn't see much to impress me about what the talking heads described as a superior Florida D line.  The Vols will get better as the season progresses.  Looking forward to the next Vols game.  I'll be watching.
