Ammo at this point I can't see anyone defeating Alabama.  Some may have not noticed the change in offensive design in Alabama.  Alabama now uses a mobile quarterback and can use the Zone Read type of

offense that most good teams with the TALENT use.  I am sure this change was in part, participated by Bamas loss to the Buckeyes a few years back.  Clemson, Syracuse et. al. are using this type of offense also.

Credit Nick Saban for changing his offense to this style.  That is why Alabama is consistently good.  Nick changes styles and implements many variations in styles of play to be successful.  This too is why Urban

has been successful for a number of years.  Saban caught up. Just so happens he had the foresight to do this and recruit players who can be successful in this style of play.

Auburn and Alabama fans know that the iron bowl makes both teams vulnerable for a loss no matter what their rank and record is for the year.

Auburn had their worse game of year against GA.

Bama will be favored big over Auburn and if you are a better, don't bet the spread.  It will be close.  Auburn has a pathway to win that game and Saban knows it.  I hope he has Bama ready.

Auburn's loss to Georgia (for me anyway) is worse than a loss to Bama  :furious

Again a great football weekend.  Result....Alabama still the best in the country.  Upsets, Michigan to an unranked Iowa, Washington to USC and Clemson to Pitt.  WOW!

This changes the scene entirely.  Ohio State at 5 should move up.  Strength with wins AT Oklahoma and AT Wisconsin.  Only loss to a now ranked #10 (Saturday) Penn State team. And a win over Nebraska at home.

USC surprised me to say the least.  There are two games to go, and anything can happen but at this point I don't see anyone on horizon to beat Alabama in the playoffs.

This is just an observation on point and I am going to ask a question of all of you.  Since the SEC s' power is based in the west only Alabama and the SEC is a bunch of also rans.  Is it me or is the BIG

the toughest conference in the nation now?  Consider this.  I can see Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin, Penn State and even Nebraska ranked in the top 10. I am a BIG fan as you know, but I am also a

College football fan foremost.  Is it possible that the over all talent has slipped in the SEC.  Ole Miss, Miss St etc. have fallen off drastically.  The BIG west conference includes Wisconsin and Nebraska.

The PAC has some good football teams also but at this time since Washington fell the entire PAC  I believe only Washington, Colorado, USC Stanford and maybe Washington St. are ranked but most of them

in the bottom half of the top 15.  Now the ACC.  Syracuse is very good and so is Clemson.  I have no idea how they will be ranked because Clemson defeated Syracuse.  It appears that the PAC has equaled the

quality or at least narrowed the gap between the PAC and the SEC.  I am asking this as a fan.  This is believe it or not an impartial question.  Please if you answer give as best an impartial answer as you can.

Give it an honest try.  I'm asking an honest question.  Not a fanboi question.  Just an impartial question.

Im going to say this as unbiased as I possibly can. Have any team in any other conference play in the sec week in and week out. I'll bet a lot these records would change quite a bit. Examples Clemson, Louisville, Ohio State, Michghan, Washington. Granted I'm from Tennessee so I'm right in the middle of the sec. so it'll sound biased. I love all these games this year and always have. But to me the SEC is very very tough. More so than any other conferences I'm my respectful opinion.

Most amazing record belongs to Mount Union, 122 game winning streak was ended. Their record since 1994 is 222-2.

Now that is impressive and an NCAA record.

It isn't really the talent level that has slipped so much in the SEC as much as the level of play and coaching. If things continue trending the way they are, then other conferences will be able to catch up to the SEC talent-wise in around 4 years. However that is going to be very, very tough when you consider the demographics of the southeast. Those schools have an advantage for being much closer to home for the recruits.

I partially agree. Louisville and Washington will certainly have some tough sledding in conference play within the SEC. However with Clemson, Michigan, and Ohio State right now and the last few years, they'll hold their own quite well. The coaching, recruiting, the talent, and the high level of on field performance is just as good, if not better than the entire SEC with the exception of Alabama. They have the body types and the physicality to match up very well. Frankly the SEC just isn't where it was a few years ago.

Hajo - I won't argue the BIG is as good or better overall than the SEC.  Though to me, that is a very subjective argument.  Personnaly, I am just not good enough to make that judgement.  Records alone are not the best indicator. Take FCS for example.

I do think OSU is an elite team though, and I have the utmost respect for this years Wisconsin and Michigan teams. Iowa has been very good, as well as Northwestern.

Iowa, PSU, Illinois, northwestern may not be the power house team but they will step it up just to take down mich, msu and osu.

It was just a question ammo.  Teams in the BIG are improving.  Wisconsin, Michigan, Penn State and Nebraska.  Playing teams on the BIG now is just as hard as playing teams in the SEC.

Ammo......I don't think Ohio State is ready yet.  Eight new starters on offense and eight on defense.  This is not their best year.  They will improve next year with this years' experience.

Alabama imho is THE best college football team at this time.  I do not see anyone with the talent to beat them including Ohio State. They are just to young although they have played very well on the

road.  You know their record.  Beat Oklahoma third game of the year in Oklahoma who had a 106 win 9 loss record at home.  The kids did well.  They went to Wisconsin and beat Wisconsin on the road,

they lost to Penn State at Penn State.  What hurts Michigan is that until yesterday they've only played 2 games out of the state of Michigan.  Even if Michigan loses to OSU and Penn State wins out, Ohio

State will NOT go to the Championship game if Penn State wins out.  Penn State has a much easier schedule.  They should win out.  If they do Michigan AND Ohio State will not play in the championship game.

Now that is a tough conference.  It is entirely possible that either Penn State or Wisconsin wins the BIG title. Wisconsin CAN win the BIG title by beating Penn State, even though they lost to both OSU and Michigan.  Such is life.

What repercussions that would have on the selection of who plays from the BIG in the top 4 on the committee I have no idea.  I would imagine it could also be possible that no team from the BIG plays in the

playoffs.  I've seen weirder things happen.

Brooke the reports are correct.  I don't feel that is a big deal since the backup at Michigan is very capable.  Remember...........Ohio State won with the third string Quarter Back.

Easy for you to say  :old:  :lol

John O'Korn brings a new element to the game considering his better mobility.  :uhoh He has played well so far this year.  From what we have seen of Speight, O'Korns play will still come down to his ability to avoid the rush, covert 1st and 3rd downs with good throws and reads, and have the ability to use the speed at wideout to extend the field and gain points.  Oh and do NOT turn the ball over.  :D easy task.  :rofl  would help if the running game could dominate.  Having the Indiana game this week is nice, the brutal weather will not be.

Another contender bites the dust.  I don't see a way for the Cardinals to make the CFP.

This year's CFP is going to be interesting to watch.  Sit back with some popcorn and watch the committee figure this one out.
