No ammo.Ohio state is one of the 4 best teams in CFB. they have 4 top 10 wins the only loss is to a top 10 team and the loss was in a well played game by both teams it came down to the wire. so we have played 5 top 10 teams thats not looking through roses glasses tell me another team who has that resume this season. washington lost a game in the worst conference in football clemson lost by a field goal weak conference. if anything clemson or washington shoulda been out before ohio state.   say penn state makes it then you put clemson or washington in over the buckeyes then you are saying its ok to take the path of least resistence to get in? and playing a tough schedule means nothing at all?  actually this shows playing a tough schedule out weighs beating cupcakes and will encourage teams to play tougher games down the road thats a win for every football fan

:ahand
:rofl    Top four is set and the committee did the right thing.   So Rip, are you going to be throwing debris in Harry Reid's backyard after all?    :devil
It needs to be revamped or removed. The NCAA Basketball tournament is 68 teams. 68 teams. How in the world does anyone think it is a decent idea or even the slightest bit fair to let 4 teams into a playoff? Not saying you need a 68 team bracket, but 16 would be nice.

Power conference teams who win the championship game of their conference get an automatic bid.

Sure, anything would be better than 4 really.

Do you know how many PO'ed people there would be if the basketball tourney went to 4 teams that were selected by a bunch of overpaid ultra melons who pick based on who they believe are best fit?

I like that song.. and most all of Steely Dan.

Not that I hate Michigan - I don't.  But I sure hope FSU hangs 30 on them in a victory just for the lively discussion in this thread.

I would like more games in the playoff

Because conference championships are determined only on games inside the conference, they aren't the best gauge of the skill of a team.  For example, let's say we had that system today and Florida managed to beat Alabama in the conference-championship game.  Then Florida would go to the playoffs instead of Alabama, which is ridiculous.  If the point is to have the *best* teams, then you need to go by overall record (maximum information), not just in-conference record (which neglects important information).

In the case of 8 teams or 16 teams in the playoffs, then -- in my opinion -- conference championships should be replaced by semi-final playoff games.

To anyone that isn't a Bama fan, a good analogy would be the evil empire represented by the Tide (Saban can be the emperor and Jalen Hurts is Darth Vader).  Saban, the team, Bama fans, are all a bunch of deplorable enemies hell-bent on dominating the entire CFB nation.  Well, I guess that last part is true.

It's not that difficult.  If conference champions go to the tournament then the conference championships already is the semis, or qualifier or round of 16
