Both patch and med terrain auto downloaded properly at the max rate of my broadband (5 Mbps).
Sound: Got loop tick in engine sound. Zero on Advanced volume (checked for Air Raid Siren) isn't zero on my system; I can still hear it (this was on enemy field while near the maproom). On my system the new sound works better: Miles gives me problems with very coarse volume settings, ie quantized. This was smoother.
Graphics: Don't think this is necessarily a problem limited to patch 84, but on my system I have problems with tree LOD ranging. Example: Med terrain, from ridge to SE of V36 some trees on the field, including those near the maproom, will disappear under max zoom and reappear unzoomed. It's even weirder: from tank view look away from field, go to non-zoom, look back, trees there, zoom in, they disappear. Look away, zoom in, look back, the trees show. This may be some weird memory limit for my XP system. Many patches ago I remember trees very nicely and unobtrusively fading in as I approach rendering distance. Now I often notice areas of trees popping into view instantly even though trees at longer range are already rendering.
For some reason hard crashes are back on my system with this patch and Med terrain. Three times crashed to black screen and reboot; once it hung and I had to use CTRL-ALT-DEL to kill alpha.
