Old Wish for a New Year

One of the oldest Jugs in the stable is the D11. With AH3 and the new graphics, old art will stand out against new art. The D11 external is a work of art. Everything in the cockpit is equal with the rest of the stable except for one very inaccurate thing.

The wish is for that one thing to be adjusted, not he whole aircraft to be updated.

Your second in game photo looks pretty close to being the same. Is there anything different between that and historical????

1. - the real photo was taken to the right of center at an angle aiming at the center meeting post for the two windscreens.
2. - you don't see angles do you.
3. - gunsight is shifted 3 inches to the center because the left side of the real gunsight was on the center vertical windscreen line.
4. - you don't do much WW2 research for a game that prides itself on certain levels of authentic form.


Researching the authentic reticle pattern AAF Mark 8 for the P47, I found this photo of what the pilot's view really was for the Razorback. I suspect the original HTC artist only had external looking in from the outside of the canopy pictures to make his best guess on the armored plate shape and mounting. It's not like I'm asking Waffle to change the 3D shape of the D11 to make the sides of the canopy angle narrower to a rounder top like real life. The width of the original rectangular rendered bullet proof glass is how wide the top of the canopy should be below the rounded cover. And then the MKII gunsight in the new Hurri is the correct size to fit in there. 

Just using the existing modeling to get closer to the real life picture.

Granted the early D11 art makes the cockpit a bit wide. And the Mk8 gunsight is too large. By the way the D11 either had an American N3 or British MKII gunsight. The Mk8 shipped starting with the D20 on until late 44 early 45 when K14 became available.

A little bit of dieting for a 7 ton monster.





Closer look at the armored plate. Note how short it is and does not extend above the top of the windscreen bar. You can see the base of it looking through at the bottom of the windscreen.

I thought this would be simple since I doubt the 47s are up for a remodel. Here, the view from left field......wayyyyyyyy out in left field.
