Check the power management for the wifi device and make sure to disable Windows turning it off.
I'll look at that but it doesn't sound promising.

I've not changed any power settings during the "update".
Everything should be turned off when I power down the laptop. Wifi shuts down and comes back up without re-entering password when turning on and off airplane mode. It doesn't want to auto-connect when powering the PC up from actual shutdown, not the new quick-boot(hibernate) that I had to turn off since it boots to a black screen with that enabled.
Problem is probably some change in the new load that doesn't play well with my 10+ year old laptop and the newest drivers I could find for it.
