Peanut,

#1 Answer is always to check to make sure that your connection to speakers is good.  Assuming that we can move past that, the next thing that I would do is open the Game Sounds menu in the game and confirm that the correct device is selected under speakers' dropdown list.

Holla back....... someone should be able to hear ya  ;)

Could also be he needs to turn the slider to the right for Sound Effect. I had to adjust mine to the right to hear engines.

Skuzzy will need a dxdiag report to begin helping you.

Check your AH3 sound settings. Clipboard>Options>Preferences>Game Sounds. Triple check that the device in each box is as should.

I noticed my settings had changed at some point. It took me quite a while to notice that the text in the boxes said Realtek High Definition Digital Audio instead of the analog.

Thanks for the DxDiag output.

As I supposed, there's more than one audio device. Check your in game audio settings as I previously suggested. It must not be the "digital" option, it has to be the High Def. Audio without the word "digital".

Also, I noticed your audio drivers are provided by Microsoft which I believe means you haven't installed the dedicated motherboard audio drivers, or Windows has automatically "updated" them to generic ones. While installing the audio drivers you might want to do the same to all of your motherboard drivers.

As a side note you might benefit a little by doubling your system RAM, too, especially if you can get it for next to free from an abandoned computer. Your 32 bit OS doesn't allow for more so going past 4 GB would be a waste of resources.

The Microsoft audio drivers are not meant to work with DirectSound.  Using them will cause stability and performance problems.  You need to install the native audio drivers.

From your motherboard manufacturer's website, support/downloads section, by the exact model. You'll find the information by opening the case and looking at the motherboard. Some manufacturers use fancy fonts, it may be hard to tell S from 5 etc. If you can't seem to find the right source, post the model here and we'll try to find the right place.

Caution: Don't use any automatic driver tools or download sites where people send their drivers, they may cause issues.
