Bustr - If a 3 bomber formation comes up, and the noob bails after dropping his iron, as long as he (player) is in the air, crew chutes from one plane would appear.  Back to Sabre's point on 'which chute to shoot' - then that is part of fun - you wouldn't know which one is actual player, and which are not.

But - to see just a single player leap from a 11 crew bomber is very 1996ish . Isn't it time to increase the immersion factor a little? And if you're still playing Aces High on a machine in 2006, isn't it time to upgrade? Apart the fact because it's 2016, and because AH3 is due out soon, a 10 year old spec machine won't cut it.

Some of you are a weird lot.  You see a good idea, if you haven't got anything good to say to support it, or think of ways to avoid it getting nerfed that would ruin gameplay, come up with solutions to make it better, move along. I see more trolls in our Wishlist forum than in a D&D Convention.

And we have both seen how greifers took a good things over the years and used them to stink up game play. It's obvious you weren't in the closed alpha testing the giant bomber mission for a month. If you introduce the ability to do something gamey, stupid, and it will impact the most players possible in a negative way, it will be done. No matter if St. Peter himself writes you a note for Hitech telling him your idea is a very well meaning idea.

Sir.  This is a message board where things including wishlist ideas are discussed.  As such, you can expect some people to not agree with you from time to time and to express their opinion thusly.  It looks like you are saying "If you don't agree with me keep your mouth shut".  That simply will not work here.  If I may humbly suggest, if you do not want a discussion, PM HiTech directly with your ideas.

Fork and company,

You can experience the issue first hand. Install the latest beta and go to the mission arena. It is the allied bombing\ axis defense mission. Get in early enough that you get to choose your side and ride. Pick a German fighter and you will eventually be in with the bomber stream. You will also see a river of falling dead aircraft and chutes for miles behind the bomber stream. Fly down and into the chutes. I reported the drastic drop in FPS as I was required in the closed alpha last year. In none of the change logs since then did Hitech address that FPS loss due to massed objects in a small area.

In the MA every time some geniuses get the wild idea of dropping troops from 10-20 C47 over a town and airfield, the whole fight grinds down into a slow motion stutter fest.

If it's made a toggle feature that you can disable or enable, you will remove the issues.

How would we see a pilot in a chute bailing over town?

While I don't understand the gnashing of teeth over a selectable feature, it could be further refined.

Forgive my lack of computer coding, but why not render the bomber chutes as one object so everyone's PC would only have to track one object (that can't be collided with)? It would look like an entire bomber crew has bailed out even though they are linked to the original player's chute. Everyone is happy, again even though the feature is optional.

Ok, my 2 cents.  One of the objections was now knowing which chute was the game pilot, and which was AI.  How about make the chute, and maybe the person, a different color?  All the AI chutes are one color, and the player chute is a different color which would stand out?  And paratroopers would have a different color altogether, maybe red, to indicate danger.

Then there is the problem with the multitude of chutes killing the graphics on some machines.  We have to accept that even if we solve all the other issues, this might still be a deal breaker, even with Delirium's suggestion.

It would be very simple to code it so that if you select to disable the option, only the player's chute will be visible.  If the option is enabled, then AI chutes are also visible.

...sad but true.

Ok - so is there an issue in how parachutes are drawn in Aces High?   How can 30 chutes bring this game to it's knees? They're chutes for cripes sake.

Has anyone ever brought this up before to Dale or Doug that the chute programming needs a re-do?  Seriously. I had no idea.  Mind you I do run a 'Ferrari' gaming computer.

As I stated earlier, I submitted a report on what the massed trail of chutes did to frame rates back in the closed alpha while testing the mission AI.

You can download the beta and join that mission in the mission arena. Choose the axis side in the big bomber mission, then dive down into the chute trail and document your findings for the beta feed back posts. At which point Hitech will put that on his to do list if he thinks it is a problem.

am i the only one that remembers (i believe it was MAW's group) killing the server, albeit briefly with goon run missions? This was years ago, and might not be the same case as this but if it's toggled off on the player side or not it still has to be registered server side right?

You are correct. It was the dumb move of the day at that time.
