It gives you a whole new respect for the guys who flew them in real life and only had one life to live and never respawned, doesn't it?
A lot of the players here on the forums are older guys, between 18 and 80ish seems to be about right. Some of them have even flown some of the aircraft, like two different guys who flew the B-24 and B-29 respectively.
The point of a simulation/game like this is not to have arcade features like engine boosts and power-ups, but to pay homage to the people that fought in these airplanes, the people that designed and tested the airplanes. While some games like the old Crimson Skies are for arcade style fun, some people enjoy learning about the history behind all of this, some like to pretend to be aces, and some still just enjoy the good ol' brain-vs-brain chess aspect of air combat.
If it's not for you, then maybe stick to World of wAircraft or whatever. But this game and a lot of the community have been around for over 15, maybe even 20 years. It's basically a proven concept at this point, and turning it into an arcade engine boosting, powerup collecting, pay for perks game won't do anything but kill all that this game stands for.
My two cents.
