A simple way to make bailing more interesting
« on: July 25, 2016, 04:30:01 PM »
Could you please consider randomizing the outcome of bailing?

Right now, it's fixed:

If you bail out over enemy territory, you're captured, with the according penalty.
If you bail out over friendly territory, you successfully bail, with slightly less penalty.

Instead, how about this:

If you bail out over enemy territory, you can either be captured, killed or successfully bail with no penalty (you don't get captured).
If you bail out  over friendly territory, you can either be killed, or successfully bail with no penalty.

The outcome is randomized but can be weighted (closer to friendly territory=less likely to be captured, etc.)

I like this idea.  Certainly there are plenty of historical examples where parachutes failed, &c.

That's not immersive enough. Surely you broke both of your legs, and have to resort to crawling and scavenging berries from lower bushes and taking refuge in abandoned farm houses for the next 2 weeks.

I shot a deer with my .45 then skinned it with my knife.

I ditched my aircraft into a whole herd of deer, used some leftover fuel to start a fire and make several pounds of jerky while I fashioned their hides into crude clothing and a rudimentary bag, fashioned a spear out of the sinew, bones, and a bit of fuselage, and hiked it back in my new deerskin shoes.

I tamed the 2nd deer and rode it back to base like a horse.

In Jane's WWII they had deer, we would all stop dogfighting and go deer hunting. When you shot them they would have a small pool of blood.

Alas, we have discovered a way to make bailing more interesting. Bring back the sheep, I do say.

Add an option to bail and help the AI troops capture a town. :)

air/land rescue with a Fieseler or an M3 would be a nice addition.
My ammo last for 6 Lancasters, or one Yak3.

Save I suggested that in a   past post. I imagined a rescue op with high cover. But I wanted to suggest something easy to implement.

But it would be fun!
