The Big Secret of Aces High
« on: September 18, 2016, 03:46:11 PM »
It amazes me how many pilots in the MA, don't know about, or simply write-off all the additional game venues here in Aces High.  Especially when they whine about not being able to find a fight, or they're getting bored with the game.  It must be a super big secret, because I don't know why more players don't try some of the Special Events offered.

It's not that they can't find a fight.

It's that they can't find a fight where they only have to invest a small amount of time to show up with the advantage.

Interesting.  I went into the AvA the other night and people would not even talk to me.  I left.

That's not always the case.

Sorry Fess, but that was just unfortunate timing. You showed up when every participant was engaged and left before anyone was free to respond to you.

I personally prefer AH events over MA play, but the times they are usually ran are not conducive to me participating. They are either too late (FSO, Combat Challenge,Snapshots, TDI) or in the middle of the day on a weekend (scenarios).  I think there should be more events centered around what time usually has the largest population online, primetime EST.   But change seems to come hard for the CMs.  Take FSO for example, even though multiple times it has been shown that a resounding majority of the players would either prefer or be fine with moving the start time forward they won't do it.  Begging people to join events without working on fixing the underlying participation issues is fruitless.

You might want to update your scenario description to include the silly new format they are running for the next one.

This is not new. This format has been used before.

After reading a number of your post on a variety of topics, I think you are very aptly named.  I've come to the conclusion that nothing will ever satisfy you unless you get your own way every time.  I may be wrong, but that's what it seems like.  I suspect you may be often disappointed in real life.  Nothing personal, just an observation. :old:

It's not that they can't find a fight.

It's that they can't find a fight where they only have to invest a small amount of time to show up with the advantage.

That's just part of the problem, but IMHO it's a part of a greater issue.  WWII Combat Flight "Sim" used to mean flying aircraft that resemble and act like the real thing and Dog Fighting.  That said, Ground Attack has most usually been a part of that.

What we're experiencing today, is a bunch of people who have confused "Dogfight" with "Easy Target".  Oh no, don't rely on the strengths of your aircraft against the weaknesses of your opponent (Like the Attacker is doing)... why, you just stick in there and take your beating while Mr. Awesome flies the plane that is easily superior from an advantage and even DISadvantage at times.  It's shameful.   ACM has been confused with "Game-The-Game".  Oh yes, learn to jerk that stick around like a spastic ball bearing in a magnet factory, and call yourself a WINNER!  IF YOU ONLY knew what you look like when you did that!  Please, watch some films and try not to wince.  And, lets not forget... there's no such thing as deadly decisions or suicide in AH (A major flaw that IMO would get people to acting like it's a WWII Flight Combat Game again).

The MA offers everything anyone needs to enjoy a flight "game" and more so a "sim".  I suspect AH was never meant to be attractive to those who engage in the above activities... thanks to console's and instant-action diptard games that suck the imagination and reason to THINK out of people.  HTC needs to pay for stuff, so we're stuck with'em in a (as much as I HATE the saying) "is it what it is" kind of way.

Stop whining.  Get in there and find a Fly, Fight and Win.  Open your damned clipboard, look at the biggest RED Darbar... and fly that direction.  Whatever happens next is your fault, good or bad.

And remember, there's always WarThunder.  You know who you are. :t
