Recovering from hard drive melt down
« on: November 21, 2016, 09:44:11 PM »
Hi Gents,

A combination of the hard drive melt down, work schedule, and normal life has had me outta the game for longer then I like.  I got on tonight and re-loaded most of my stick settings to get some game play in.  Two issues I couldn't resolve or find on the website.

1.  When spawning in with a gv, the secondary gun (pintle) starts firing and goes for several hundred rounds.  I checked in the preferences and couldn't find anything that was set to start firing.

2.  I couldn't remember/find instructions on how to zoom the view in to the desired level.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

Check Six!

Check your controller mappings for any device showing there. I suppose the trigger for the secondary gun is in your mouse, but it can as well be your pedals. And if it only happens in a GV, you're looking for settings under setting mode #2.

Zoom in/out with left/right bracket buttons. Z toggles zoom.

Not sure why HTC has such terrible default setting on pedals but they do.  Has to have messed up many a new player or a returning player as yourself.

The pedal setting are in the min-mid-max setting area of the map controller section as Bizman noted..  One pedal is set to look-up and the other is to fire guns.  set those to "none" and you got it.

Blame that on how the devices report to the game.  There is no "pedal" category.  It is best-guess and that is all it is.  There is no default for "pedals" because they do not exist in DirectInput.

To do it, we would have to have config settings for every brand of stick on the market and do it by using the name of the device.  Of course, the name is not static so that will only work so long.

Instead, we give you a generic mapping device which allows the most flexibility in configuring your input devices.

You nailed it Bizman!  There were several gun firing labels in the rudder pedal menu.  Who'd a thunk?  Got the zoom working also.  Thanks for the help. 👍
