Standard transmission
« on: December 10, 2016, 12:38:21 PM »
This new automatic transmission is even more truly awful than it was in AH2 when on a slope...Please bring back the standard transmission in gvs...or give people the option to use the automatic transmission...

TOTALLY AGREE!!!!   The new automatic thing is a joke!  In the day in real life they were manual, and they should be here as well.

You can still downshift.

Darn near impossible to get them stopped with the engine running, it's as though you can never find neutral.  Plus climbing a hill they always want to upshift, then downshift.   I can never get one to hold a specific gear.

On a slope they just shift up and down constantly... I want to select a gear and wrap it out...going down the slope they go up to 180 mph  :noid

This is based off the last time I took a GV out, which was in AH2.  It may or may not have any use in AH3.

Don't try to go full throttle up a hill.  That is when it'll up/down shift constantly.  Just "select" a speed by holding the W keys and keeping an eye on your "hud" speed gauge.  Once you start up a hill, you'll see your vehicle reach a certain speed before she upshifts to the next gear, then very shortly after down shift.  I usually go 2-3MPH slower than up-shift point and find myself climbing a hill at a nice, consistent speed.

As for going down a hill...I tend to tumble down it. :P

I can not tell a difference.  AH3 works the same best. I can tell.  I do thik there is tread slipping on the very steep slopes or I think there is.

On steep slopes when it is jumping gears back-and-forth just tap the 's' key once and it will stop trying to speed up.
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

Ya, I was almost to the top of the hill I wanted to climb, and while tracks were moving forward, the tank was sliding backwards...  :bhead

+1 to a semi-auto transmission for GVs; however (and not trying to be a wiseguy), it should include the possibility to burn out the tranny if you over-rev it for too long in a gear that is too low.

yeah Id like the old way back as well was just trying to get up a hill covered in rocks and that was the most painful ~20 mins of my GV life in AH.
